How are these poor kids getting on, see sod all on the news. Must have all sorted itself

Sadly not mate.

Sudan now has the largest child displaced population in the world and the UN’s migration agency says over 2.1 million are under the age of five.

It stinks that the world, the West, and the UK are basically ignoring the horror being meted out there, with women and children suffering most. UN reports forecast that 25 million people there will require humanitarian aid this year.

It’s a difficult one for ‘the west’ and the U.K. as they used to run most of it during empire etc. The countries wanted independence and that’s what they now have and indeed have had for 50-60 years. A lot have made a complete mess of it, but of course we will still be blamed. Meanwhile both Russia and China are emptying the continent of minerals, perhaps they should provide the help required. I doubt they will of course. A sad situation. The UN could raise its game but probably won’t…….

I lived in Khartoum for nearly two years between 2012-23 and it is horrible to read of and hear from friends I still have there about the fighting, food and water shortages. News coverage on BBC/ITV of the troubles in Sudan stopped literally the day the last flight of British nationals left Khartoum.

Russia and China are backing their imperialist activity with a robust PR and psyops campaign which the west isn't fully addressing. The French have a lot to answer for but things will change from here on in.

Absolutely.
The influence China has 'bought' in so many African states by providing infrastructure in exchange for mineral and drilling rights is unreal.
The Chinese financed the construction of new government offices in Accra, Ghana in the early 2010s and when finished, the Ghanaians hated the design as there was too much Chinese influence, and they have barely used the building since... and the Chinese got gold mining rights as part of their deal.

Massive Chinese investment in the railway system in Zambia was 'rewarded' with copper mining rights, a plan to build a new airport in Khartoum - that never came to fruition - was done on the back of gold extraction rights in the Sudanese Sahara. They even flew in planeloads of conscripted convicts to act as a labour force on the designated site for the new airport.

jesus christ pete.
Are you sitting in front of the fire with your pith helmet on?

No mate. You need to look at these things objectively. Try reading the three posts above. It’s not all about the evil west or the British empire, time has moved on…..
Mmmm. these blagards wanted independence, now look what they've done with it. We civilized them but there's only so much one can do... and I was very very drunk at the time...
