I see the USA have blown someone up with a drone. I’m sure it’ll be front and centre of the next TV appearance of the President, looking tough and directly at the camera, while no doubt promising even more random retribution. As if this fixes anything.

What I’d like to see is an apology. To the people of Afghanistan for dropping them into this crap. To the families of all of those who have died over 20 years fighting the Taliban. To the families of the civilians who died. To the young generation who knew little of the Taliban and who have been developing and learning in an environment that will now be snatched away. 20 years of hard work, blood, death and tears and now thrown away on the whim of an idiot and an incompetent. And an apology to the Allies, such as the U.K. and Canada, who went in with the USA and stayed there faithfully for 20 years and then had the rug pulled from under them without even the curtesy of consultation. Then lastly I’d like to see Biden publicly sack the staffers and generals who dreamt up this shockingly incompetent withdrawal, before personally apologising for his own part and delivering a resignation speech.

They don't really care about the young men and women sent out there who represent us in the armed forces. Just look at the figures that make up homeless and who these people are. Just look at some of sub standard accommodation these young people have to house themselves and their families in.The Afghanis never had a look in.

Incidentally @peteblue, I think this is particularly pertinent given your previous remarks about both holding our government accountable and treating Europe as friendly trading partners. The reality is that neither is likely so long as the Tory base (ie you) are so whipped up by your hatred for Brussels, so the Tories will always try and not only stand apart from them (even when common sense urges otherwise) but also blame them for all of their own failures.
