I grew up a conservative and still think I lean that way to am extent.

However, that party/ side of the aisle have been losing their heads ever since the 08 election. As a kid growing up in it, it was hard to follow it and know these people are just (in the United States) are just angry at how their life turned out and want to take no responsibility for it.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I should have noticed it when all the "Tea Party" ish started in 2010. Then there was Trump and Q, still they have both of them. They got the crap they did on the 6th.

They're just an absolute embarrassment that don't stand for any ideals other than anger that they just spray indiscriminately in every direction.

Say one thing they don't like and it all goes down hill. I had to leave it. I might come back to vote in the primaries. But from the local politicians who are amazingly worse than their national counterparts

And their come back is always some crap about not being a real conservative or American like the point of any of this is proving that.

Got a little off topic, but yea the conservatives/right wingers who are incapable of independent thought are just an awful angry irresponsible bunch.
The GOP have spent a generation molding cultural and religious groups. Everything from country music radio to the NRA to Christian evangelicals. They co opted American patriotism as a brand or weapon. I think they lost control in 16 and opened the door to the seediest, nastiest side of right wing politics. It’s very hard to put that back in the bottle.
so, as Biden makes a continuing mess of this withdrawal, my fear is that the voting public might actually opt for something akin to nazis in protest.

I'd quibble and say the GOP didn't mould the cultural and religious groups, they capitulated to them because it was easier than the hard work of appealing to young people and people of color - which is what their own internal review told them they needed to do for long-term sustainability.

It's now come to bite them on the rear end and the level of cowardice among GOP leadership who know better is appalling.

If you get a chance, I recommend the book "It Was All A Lie" by Stuart Stevens.

Do you believe the election was stolen? Do you often take the word of junior executives who retired 30 years ago as to modern issues?

Fine if you do. I typically don't.

I am not really interested in their view regarding an election being stolen or not. It is what it is. Their experience is in military operations. They appear to believe what most sensible people believe and that is that someone royally screwed up with this withdrawal and the early closure of Bagram Airbase...

If you believe that Biden and his team managed this really well, then fine. I think he and his team made a shambles of it…..

Thanks!

well because when it was pointed out that these same people signed a letter claiming that the election was stolen, you said they should be listened to.

That’s because I think they should be listened to in respect of my original post and not the whataboutery posted as a diversion of the debate…..

I think the Mericans are reminding us over here that their military big wigs also hold pretty firm political views, and the ones who wrote the letter might just be trumping (sic) their military background for their political one.

The closest we get to it is angry letters to the Telegraph from retired Majors in Gloucestershire.
