Seen that MP yesterday as well saying we are completely reliant on the USA staying in country, as we “cannot secure the airfield on our own”. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Irish Rangers (our elite forces unit) sent to Kabul today along with a couple of diplomats to try and secure the departure of all Irish citizens and dependants.

I cant remember the last time they were sent somewhere for something like this. Possibly never.

About 30 plus dependants - mostly involved in teaching or humanitarian work. We have no diplomatic presence in Afghanistan.

They're supposed to get out on US aircraft but they're having a hell of a time getting through to the airport.

The US...and the rest of the 'peace keeping' nations will turn their backs and the initial slaughter of those on the lists will begin...out of the eye of the media and carry on as and when required.to keep the rest in line.

Aye the companies who got juicy contracts to be in Afghanistan to run and process things up and left before May, when the initial retreat was signed off by Trump. Still plenty of time to pull civilians out first by Biden but the worry now is letting in terror cells in the chaos.

Biden has said in the last 30 mins that the US are gone on the 31st. Dont think anyone else has the military presence to continue evacuation after that.

Taliban were never going to extend again, was supposed to be May.

The Taliban agreement to stay outside of the airport ends - who knows if a plane will ba allowed land after that.

Given their statements thus far it doesnt look like they'll allow it.
