I am sure you do have a theory about it, or rather you've read something else on a dodgy site online and thought it would make you sound clever.

Also it isn't "years of training", its years of reading your posts. Yesterday it was look at this video I've completely misunderstood, today its the vaccine-hesitant are the smart ones.
tsu lad, we've finally reached the ok mate x stage of the discussion.

Isn't this the sort of thing that gets posted on r/selfawarewolves?
in-joke for redditors? i find that site unreadable, almost as bad as the chans.

Sixteen polling firms released generic polling just prior to the mid-term elections. Rasmussen was literally the least accurate pollster of the group - by far. His firm routinely scored Trump with much higher approval ratings than other firms during his Presidency, hence why he was so frequently cited by the former POTUS. Those approval numbers were wildly off per exit polling (by 7%, IIRC). He was also wrong in this past election - off by nearly 4% IIRC.

He's simply bad at what he does (polling).

Are you familiar with the type of polling utilized in the recent poll you cited from Rasmussen?

Lastly, I'm not going to pay for Rasmussen's data. If you do and wish to provide the crosstabs then I'll take a look. I have serious doubts as to any claim he polled more Dems than GOPers. The only tab I saw cited in an article indicated 45% voted for Biden in 2020, 45% for Trump, 6% voted other and 4% unsure.

That's a pretty sizeable skew of polling audience.
Finally, thank you! A good post.

Yes, Rasmussen had a poor mid-terms sandwiched between the pres-elections.

I also found this interesting:

That Rasmussen's use of Interactive Voice Response may render their efforts innacurate, or inconsistent.

CNN aren't exactly darlings of accuracy themselves, but if Rasmussen are still using IVR it's useful to know when considering their polls.

I am up for fair debate, lads...just need to find game.

The game was provided for you earlier. You just didn't want to hear/accept it.

Do I get my pyramid? :)

Have you not considered, maybe, that it's not a mass psychosis but that you are really, really, ill-informed and everyone can see through your YouTube and Russel Brand gleaned nonsense?
always with these wildly-off assumptions...i don't listen much to Russell tho' i respect his views and understand he has a large audience. I might even have linked him once as he's relatively mainstream talking about subversive, near-dissident, matters.

Joe Rogan is probably my favourite contemporary commentator. And i appreciate he rubs a lot of yous the wrong way.

If you're genuinely curious where i get my worldview from, it's likely due to being an avid reader of dystopic literature, with classic anti-fascist messages, mostly read in a 5-year span of the late-90's. They've probably been quite influential in how i think.

I understand the argument that being influenced by 100-year old cynical fiction is a poor method to feel informed by how the world works now. But there it is.

That explains a lot

Imagine writing this and complaining others are in an echo chamber

It's relevant to @Yarrgh wondering what the world can do to help Afghanistan against Taliban atrocities.

i.e. most Afghans want the Taliban back as things were...shall we say...rather seedy without them.

You can't win a nation back with just brute force, you also need to convince a lot of folk that this is the right move, otherwise the Afghan army would've easily defended Kabul against the Taliban.

That many, perhaps the majority, of Afghan folk openly support Sharia (and the Taliban) is no vague rhetoric. It's common knowledge among those who follow the culture.
I'm not that the findings of recent research back these assumptions up.

If you look at the findings of this study from the Asia Foundation you'll see the survey found that just 13.4 percent of Afghans had sympathy for the Taliban, with those who have no sympathy with the Taliban increasing to 85.1% this year. An overwhelming majority of respondents stated that it was important to protect the current constitution, women’s rights, and freedom of speech, things which the Taliban are accepted as being against.

good post, spadge.

i also found this, which supports the UN putting pressure on the Taliban to abide by peace processes and women's freedoms (i.e. further supports your post):

Anecdotally and on arabic-only comment sites you hear very different sentiments.

Perhaps China will have more luck, they're working closely with the Taliban, and have meddled in African nations in interesting ways so far, seeming less concerned with proxy wars and more with expanding their empire's capital influence.

It is a difficult situation and I believe you may have alluded to the more conservative rural areas as being a source of more extreme views. Until there is widespread secular education in these areas as well as the urban areas there will be manipulation and trouble, sadly.
