uff...secular is not much of a thing in arabic-muslim nations. I hope for an Enlightenment Era for them like Europe had in the 17/18th century, but I see no signs of it...Arab Spring proved to be a false start. If anything the younger Muslim generations are getting more conservative, the males anyway. This could be a direct reaction to realising women are waking up. So maybe we'll first see a suffrage movement before any secular-enlightenment.It is a difficult situation and I believe you may have alluded to the more conservative rural areas as being a source of more extreme views. Until there is widespread secular education in these areas as well as the urban areas there will be manipulation and trouble, sadly.
Why would that be wrong?just having a favourite media commentator is perhaps a sign of where you are going wrong, but if you are talking about favourite journalist then mine would be Peter Oborne
The opposite is happening: it's the men who are allowed to move. The videos are difficult to watch. I feel sorry for the people of Afghanistan, especially the women. I think they should be allowed to move to more civilised societies that are well known to protect and uphold the rights of women and children via legal statutes.

That’s going to be a horrible day. Dread to think how it will play outRumours coming in that Aug 31 is a firm end date for evac from HKIA.

The only purpose for these heli’s is to provide close air support for US SF as they complete the final collapse of the perimeter at HKIA.
Christ it will be awful to witnessThat’s going to be a horrible day. Dread to think how it will play out
These are the very same “allies” that Biden convinced there would be enough US mil presence in Kabul to allow a phased and orderly evac, at a time and pace dictated by the Americans.I hope Biden appreciates the price others have paid in supporting the USA, though I would doubt he’s even aware…

And because of that, the NATO allies left their embassies and staff in country only now to be left with the prospect of leaving some of their people behind due the chaos on the ground.
I think we are witnessing the end of NATO in its current form due to Bidens flagrant disregard for the safety of his so called allies.
over a hundred-thousand afghan dead too.I hope Biden appreciates the price others have paid in supporting the USA, though I would doubt he’s even aware…

John Aldridgec'mon lads...be brave and name your favourite media commentator.
Yup maybe a bit OTT from me on the NATO thing, however trust has been lost and as you rightly stated I cannot see us or any other NATO ally blindly following the US on any possible future ventures.I don’t think we are seeing the end of NATO, we are definitely seeing the end of Biden and our slavish following of the USA……
Sadly, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that to some extent the Taliban will be asked to play a role in maintaining the perimeter when NATO forces fall back. That’s going to be a horrible day. Dread to think how it will play out
“Joe Rogan is my favourite contemporary commentator”
Of course he is.
Wonder if he buys all the products Joe endorses. That's the dedication required to be the bestest Joe fanboy everI assumed he was taking the piss or dangling the bait with that statement seeing as its basically seen as the kind of comment one makes when they want absolutely no one to take them seriously on anything.
