Yeh but i doubt its going to swing anyone to vote one way or another. For years now both left and right have been in favour of bringing troops home and ending the occupation, sure some will now pretend that it was a bad thing they never wanted to happen but deep down they know they are just being disingenuous for the sake of partisanship.

There will be much more important issues at hand in the next election imo and Afghanistan will be an after thought.
With the Taliban in control they can provide a safe haven and resources for any number of anti western terrorist groups. Any terrorist group striking at America in election year will bring the issue back into focus.

They could, but they know what the risks are of doing that.

If you asked the majority of Americans what and where Afghanistan is they wouldn’t have a clue. There will be zero care for this over there. Same as over here. Be Corbyns fault or something.

The Duke of wellington summed it up hundreds of years ago, It's easy to go into Afghanistan, it's harder to leave it.,
Aye, @Lapeno77's post is a good idea because there's a lot of incorrect stereotypes in terms of Afghanistan, Afghans (in general) and the culture.

What isn't ignorant however is that the real issue is that Afghan culture isn't conducive to western views (whims) and trying to shoe-horn policies wouldn't work.

From my experience, it isn't that Afghans are in favour of the Taliban (or not the entire country), but the failings of those in charge have made it easier for them.

A I said yesterday, lots of people naively expect the country to move to western ideals when in reality it'd take a generation or more. Until then, they'd be a threat.

A better the devil you know type of scenario is how I'd explain the Taliban's success.
