His first and 3rd season, Sterling was ridiculously good. That attack of Sturridge, him, and the Rat were unplayable at times and blitzed teams.

Now he's not a very good winger but at the top of a 3 he's very effective. I can see that in Lookman. Has the greed and selfishness that will no doubt be battered out of him.

Sterling was a real handful that season the RS finished second. Lookman certainly strikes a better ball.

Only because of the space created by having 3 fast forwards breaking quickly. It covered over his one footedness, crap touch and lack of a football brain. Any player with his speed would have had similar results in that team. Look at him now, decent defenders can manage him pretty easily. He's nowt special.
Lookman has an ability to keep the ball tight to his feet, he can turn and shimmy quickly and gets good shots off.

Sterling has his limitations (I don't think we has a bad touch mind) but he is still an excellent player and at the same age was comfortably ahead of where Lookman is now. I agree that Lookman is better at dribbling in tight spaces and has a much better shot from distance. Fingers crossed that he continues to progress.

For rowett to name the player there might be something in this .we would lose our one player with genuine pace and with kenny looking more likely to go out on loan looks like the younger players will have to wait a bit longer than I thought they would
