2025/26 Adam Aznou

Coleman proved himself as what exactly? He mostly played in losses, especially in Europe, and was loaned out as he was incredibly raw but pacy. We also had other RBs so he was obviously not gonna play here, sadly, as we cried out for pace down that side (and why he came back as he did, credit to him).

Baines sat out because Lescott was a great 'stop-gap' at LB, similar to how any RB coming in now will be behind JOB regardless of form or anything else.

Heitinga was a RB and DM for half a season before playing at his actual position too, because Distin/Yobo was strong at the time.

Those are the only "reasons" I can think of that make sense, at the time.

If we go further back we'll probably find a lot more examples of this, but yeah, Moyes is weird with new and younger players, on that I 100% agree.

Coleman's breakout game was against Spurs at home where he owned Bale. Way before he went to Blackpool.

Aznou's cameo was as a left sided midfielder/winger. Maybe Moyes has 'unearthed' a winger that can turn and go forward taking people on, get to the byline and cross or cut inside. Something we've sadly miss lately on the left unlike when Ndiaya was there.
Moyes hasn't unearthed anything. He chucked the lad on for a few minutes in a game he thought was done. Aznou flipped the script himself, Moyes gets no credit here.

Maybe I should have worded it, "Moyes should really be sitting up and taking notice......"

He'll never find himsef at CB while Moyes is on the touchline though.
I'm as frustrated with Moyes' reluctance to use him as anyone but to be fair, he did say 'he'll stick in my mind' after this weekend. Which I noticed the article on the front page of the site decided to cut out of the last bit of his quotes. Like I said, I'm not a huge Moyes fan and think it's time for him to be moved on at the end of the season, but to cut that bit out is really disingenuous.

And that's what we all want to see from an underused player, whether it is justified or not by the manager: make him rethink his position on you. Fair play to Aznou

Spot on. That's the reaction you want to see from someone given a chance after being left out in the cold.

Hope he gets another chance and takes it yet again.
Yes, loads of players find themselves not playing for various reasons and sometimes they just need one moment/match to get things going. Hopefully this is it for Aznou.

You'd think Moyes should now be looking towards him if he needs someone on from the bench to give the team a spark in a game.

There is deffo a place for him in the last 20 minutes of games to replace Grealish.

Dont think a LB yet unless we are cruising in a game and we can bring him on at LB (pffffft cant believe ive just typed that, cruising!!)
I would take a raw undeveloped kid over McNeil everyday of the week, he is a proper rank footballer!

Could have used Dibling in the same way or at 10.

Could have used Aznou when Grealish was tired or McNeil was awful

U21 so wont happen.

Moyes was saying that the impressive cameo was further forward and he's competing with Grealish etc there. That's fair but if he goes to JOB at RB again there is no reason not to have Aznou at LB with licence to go forward and JOB shuffle in for 3atb in possession.
Villa do it when Konsa plays RB, Digne gets very attacking.

It's another option at least
Myko is a defender only, well proven at this stage

That totally works when Branth is fit and can come wide to cover for the attacking left back, but I don’t think it works the same with Keane there - infact nothing does! That’s not a criticism of Keane, it’s just a fact that Branth gives us balance and a way of playing that no one else can and without him we’re never quite the same team are we?

Had to laugh at Moyes post match - “the boy done good in a different position but for him to get in the team at left back, we’ve got some real strong competition here so for him to get in the team will be difficult.”

Who’s he talking about? Not Myko surely!
