2025/26 Adam Aznou

Moyes at the very least should be using him on the left wing and as a left wingback.

Had the ideal chance to play him as a wingback against Leeds and stuck with Mykolenko.

Should be giving him a chance on the wing instead of McNeil. He can’t do any worse and he’s defo got talent.

Now he wants to loan him out so he can’t prove him wrong.

You really are a bell sometimes Moyes.

Think this lack of faith in his ability will come to haunt us when he moves on to another club.

Yeah, I will admit to being vaguely supportive of Moyes not playing him as a left back based on what we've heard about his deficiencies there and the little available evidence of televised games of him in the U21s.

What I don't get at all, particularly with the injury to Grealish, is not giving him any minutes on the left of midfield occasionally as a sub or (Monday being a great example) throwing him on as a wing back when we needed a goal and we're playing that formation for a change.

To be fair, Aznou might be saying that a few minutes here and there as a sub on the wing isn't going to cut it and he'd rather go out on loan where he can get regular minutes as a left back - also worth remembering that Aznou might have in mind that he has half a chance of a place in the World Cup squad if he were to impress somewhere between now and then. He's certainly not making the WC squad if he stays here.
I agree, I'm probably more bullish on Aznou's quality than nearly anyone else but I still wouldn't be starting him at left back. I really did think he'd be in line for a good amount of winger minutes with Grealish being out though.

You make a good point about his own feelings on quantity of playing time though.

Dunno what this lad must be thinking. Myko terrible and doesn’t get a look in. Myko injured, nobody else who plays the position and sticks a centre back in instead of him. There’s no point him being here this season, should go out on loan, Moyes won’t play him in any circumstances. Wasting the lad.

What was the point in signing him in the first place? A favour for an agent? A tax write off? Recruitment strategy written on a lavatory wall?
