Confirmed Signing Abdoulaye Doucouré

I was chatting to my mate from Uni last night who has a season ticket at Watford and he says that Doucoure is living off one good season and has been poor. He says he has some engine but he is sloppy in possession and technically not brilliant. I have to say I have not been convinced from what I have seen and don't really get the hype. Part of me thinks that we should hold on and someone better may come up next summer. Rodriguez and Allan may bring the best out of some of our current midfielders.

I'm also not fully convinced on him. Hes a big unit and can get about the pitch, plus he's a clear upgrade on what we currently have but I'd still like to see someone better on the ball. In the current market I'd hope we could find someone to fit the bill. Doucoure seems a bit clumsy to me.

Tbh tho, we have no-one with a great engine, our central midfielders run like they are in quick sand.

Someone with an engine who can get box to box, to go with Allans ability and aggression, potentially Gomes and his ability going forward, and then Rodriguez ability going forward is a must imo.

O'keefes article in the authentic highlighted his box to box ability and engine, we have missed someone who can get about badly since Gana left.

I’d ignore a Watford fans perspective tbh. They were telling us Richarlison was overrated when he was on his way.

Taking out a £124m loan 'for transfers' seems a bit... unlikely - especially considering we're about to take out a very very large loan to pay for our stadium. Interesting to see how much truth is in that (if any).
Maybe the loan is off uncle Usie at a very competitive rate

Nah I don't think my mate is bitter, he knows his football and I trust his opinion and in honesty its hard to disagree from what I have seen, I have watched Doucoure play and never been that impressed by him myself. To be honest he really rated Richarlison and even raved about him when he was at Fluminese. However he did say that Richarlison had down tools when Everton we were interested which is why many Watford fans didn't think he was worth the money. I am just suggesting that maybe there are better options available and as we are signing two very good midfielders already we could possibly afford to be patient, who knows we may be in Europe next season and able to attract someone better.

technically not brilliant with a good engine is the entirety of Liverpool’s midfield. We haven’t had anyone since McCarthy who could mix it with the quickest central mids in the league. As soon as McCarthy got injured Martinez’s team fell apart. Gueye patched up the team a bit but was not the quickest either, more of an interceptor. If Doucoure can get about the pitch, press opposition, win possession and give it to the likes of Rodriguez then he doesn’t have to be great on the ball.
