In some games he's a better option than Del. Gives us more energy with his closing down.
100%. When he closes he does it at pace and as much as I love Gerry he doesn't sulk and have to be withdrawn after missing a chance.

Your suggestion is martinez bought a player solely to use against 4th division opposition?
Well at least someone is on my wavelength. Ridiculous decision to take off Deulofeu against City and replace him with Kone. We had nobody providing any supply and were constantly forced to defend.
So maybe you can help me out mate. Ill ask the original question again. Why did he buy Lennon?

So there would be enough depth in the squad for matches like the FA Cup. And so McGeady would never have to play for Everton again.

Call me crazy but you take off a winger for a winger. Two strikers(if you consider Kone that) and nobody supplying any balls forward is pointless.
Manager has his fixations on players. Let's just leave it at that and move on.

I'm not even sure what you're arguing. If you're still hung up on Lennon not coming on against Man City, didn't that have more to do with changing the formation than any worries about depth charts? I mean, there's still plenty to criticize Martinez for there, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really have anything to do with Lennon.

correct...

It's a very good feeling having options like him on the bench. A genuinely good player who offers something different.
