Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

First of all, I can understand why some are a bit underwhelmed over the signing of Lennon if you're just looking at his stats, but believe me they don't tell the full story.

I'm not sure what's gone on behind the scenes but apparently, and according to very well respected ITK, there were problems with a group of younger players (Kane, Mason etc) with a more senior group (Adebayor, Kaboul - and to a lesser extent Lennon) which concerned Pochettino. Without getting too much into the realms of speculation though, although it certainly all adds up if you're of a Spurs persuasion, I think Lennon maybe needed a fresh challenge.

He did split opinion with Spurs fans but I was always very much a big Lennon fan, and still am. Without doubt we've been a better team with him in the side than him out of it over the last 8 years or so.

Some of the possession purists don't rate him as much but its undeniable that he stretches teams and always creates space for others to exploit. And that's key. On the counter attack we've been very dangerous over the years with Lennon in the side - the Crouch goal against AC Milan in the CL is a classic example.

He's just one of the those players who enhances your attack - through his speed and acceleration. He's not always supplying assists but its often his pace, movement and ball carrying that sparks a dangerous opening or at least a threatening situation. Many of time its been his movement and pass that has come before the assist.

He also works very hard defensively. Tracks back in spades, and if he's playing ahead of Coleman that is one right hand side you'll have.

Ignore the individual stats and judge how Everton play as a team with him in the side.

I'd have him over Townsend everyday of the week, and twice on Sunday. Sad to see him go and he's had a lot of great moments in a Spurs shirt but wish him well at Everton.

Thanks for reading, just thought i'd share my thoughts!

A really well put post. Lennon will be one of eleven when played and will affect the team as a whole. Let's rate him when we see how the team plays with him. I've always liked him.

Liverpool fan on BBC Radio Merseyside tonight saying that they're not looking forward to facing Coleman and Lennon down the right side, with McCarthy possibly back and also with Mirallas, and obviously all feeding Lukaku.

*confident all of a sudden......

Interesting post from @hottott.

I know not a lot about Lennon but look forward to watching him in an Everton shirt. I will formulate a view on his football ability thereafter. But one thing for sure, our team was in desperate need of pace and from what I read, Lennon possesses that...so it's a promising start.

uve got to think he was sending a message to spurs with those photos - i'm not happy to be here, i've been forced by the manager etc
To be honest I just don't think he smiles for photos when he knows they're being taken. Don't read anything into that. His interview makes it sound like he wants to be here, and reports were always that he was holding out for Everton. He'll be a good signing.

Great post that mate.

I hope he does prove me wrong, in bucketful's. Once he pulls on the shirt he'll have my full backing, especially against out beloved neighbours at the weekend.

As I said, Great post. Stick around, level headed fans of other persuasions always welcome around here.

Have fun. ;)

'Only Everton'. the only choices were Hull, Stoke or Everton. Sorry but that's a no brainer and I am very peeved at this comparison.

[Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] f*ckity [Poor language removed], this is what our season has become. We are being laughed at!!

*EDIT sorry for swearing just bloody annoyed , Aaron Lennon is just a squad member, we have improved by a fook all %

You realize Stoke are 6 points clear of us at the moment right? Like it or not, that's where we are this season. Hopefully Mr. Lennon can help us right the ship. I think he can.
