I have no qualms about people who use Macs for two things, pro audio or video editing. They're stellar for this, but it's not because of the hardware or the OS, it's the time that's been spent on the software for these applications and the fact that they're coded on a relatively closed system as it concerns hardware (which IS upgradeable, to an extent).
Microsoft would absolutely eat Apple alive in the OS department if they ever adopted a closed system approach (ie. XBox) but that doesn't make money nor give the consumer a large enough choice, which also doesn't make money.
Apple makes enough money to survive but it's not beause of their PC division. FFS, the 25 and under generation don't even regard Apple as a PC manufacturer these days, they find that out by accident because they bought...an iPod.
Old school Mac users know this...and hate it.
