A special arrangement ?

I think the relationship (if it can be put that way) between Everton and United got Everton a very easy ride in the press in the recent past. United are a powerful club and can dictate through their masses of contacts how a team/manager/club is portrayed in the media.

Martinez and Everton in general will get a rough ride from now on, IMO.

Good - the media can now focus on everton FC instead of pushing the the myth of david moyes for the benefit of man united fans

Firstly I have no issue with going back to Wigan mate, two players we ave paid a fee for from them, also we took Alcaraz on a free and we paid a fee to atletico ? For Robles.... Whichever way we look at it that's 4 players off their playing staff from last season. I'm not arsed about moyes... He's the united manager now.....but let's not be hypocritical slating him when we have basically done the same thing.....

Although we have gone about it very differently.

All 4 of them players were on wigans payroll last season regardless of who owns them or any transfer fee

Minor detail that

It does happen but the manner in the way it happens is important. Moyes upset the Club he spent 11 years with his classless manner whereas Martinez showed class and didn't try to embarrass Wigan or disrepect Wigan. In other words he didn't try to act a big cheese.

and only one of them came out of it looking like they'd vastly overpaid.

Don't try and be clever mate... You know what I meant.... All 4 of them players were on wigans payroll last season regardless of who owns them or any transfer fee.

Why regardless? That's not something you should disregard. That's like saying if some club buys Deolofeu and Lukaku next season and their fans moaning at them for buying Everton players

You're going way off the point... The original point was that managers , when they move club, tend to go back and sign players they liked and worked with at their previous club..... Moyes has done it t us, we ave doe it to Wigan.... Although like I stated ,we have gone about it in a proper manner.

And that my friend, is the WHOLE POINT OF BEING ANNOYED AT MOYES.

Not that he came back to sign 2 of our players. It was the manner in which he did it -

-bid low several months ago,
-do nothing for ages,
-crank up the media pressure,
-put repeated bids in that were too low in the hope we'd crack,
-prey on the players to hope they've had their heads turned and would submit transfer requests,
-and just generally try to get the players on the cheap whilst disrespecting the club.

The only tiny thing similar we did was the manner in which we originally proposed to pay McCarthy's fee. Even then we eventually changed it, within a few hours. Nothing drawn out.

Martinez could have ignored Kone release clause and offered 2 million instead, just to unsettle the player.

Exactly. He didn't, he met the clause straight away.

The other thing that makes me laugh is when people include Robles - he played for Wigan on loan for just FOUR MONTHS.

People act like we're signing Mike Pollitt or something. Robles was/is a promising young keeper from Athletico Madrid, who played for them just 9 times, and did that well that he played in an FA Cup Final and kept a clean sheet en route to winning.

Yet you get people making out he's rubbish. We also got him for £750,000, which is almost a Coleman-esque bargain.

I kind of like that lad we signed from division 1 side Leeds last season even though he couldn't get a game for them. Must be crap though not being able to force his way into their team, even if he is now an England international.

I must have missed that one, who are you talking about?
