Back in the 80s I was out enjoying myself. Don't think I ever watched the news. When I watch one of those look back at the year 19** documentaries it's all new to me. As you say we are now saturated with news from all angles and it's mostly bad to horrific.apples with pears, the internet, mobile smart phones (internet access) and everyone being a journalist with a camera (internet phones again) has shrank the world. Back in the 80's we had no access to the daily depravity of the medellin cartel, and toxic waste dumped off some paradise, and the italian version of peter sutcliffe. Times have changed. County lines gangs and children paid to carry knives and worse weren't the flavour of the day.
ignorance was bliss, unless it was you were suffering, and it was very rare your plight made it to national or international recognition.
Nowadays some fat american multimillionaire can't even go to Africa and shoot some beloved but well past it's sell by date ancient lion for a laugh without becoming an international pariah. World hasn't gone mad, we're just aware of a lot more of it than we ever were.

If I went to the North End I'd have had a nose bleed. Think I went to the Big House once and that was as far as I ventured.Pubs and clubs near Dale street, the Swan inn and Ye Cracke, creatures of habit we were.
I have had an NHS for the last 5 years - Labour get in & it is now up in the air as budgets are being slashed by them - I will pay the going rate if that happens as will not pay insurance as it can be £400 per year per person - { not worth it one filling in 7 years }View attachment 341174
Here's a handy image for your potential Reform voters. It's called 'a list of things you may need but definitely cant afford.'
Who are you Voting ?I have had an NHS for the last 5 years - Labour get in & it is now up in the air as budgets are being slashed by them - I will pay the going rate if that happens as will not pay insurance as it can be £400 per year per person - { not worth it one filling in 7 years }
Brilliant dentist too - so I will just pay the going rate when my family need dental treatment as he has got all our teeth in A1 condition - telling us how to look after our teeth & getting rid of the gum disease from the last NHS dentist we had ....
Why Labour are cutting NHS dental budgets ? even the Tories were bad , but this is outrageous 8-9 NHS dentist are going in my area over these cuts by a Labour government ?
I hate to think what general medical insurance would cost for an OAP? from Reforms ideology .....
