A plea

Had an interesting discussion about politics in the pub the other night. Talking to a couple in their late 60s who are raving Tories and totally against people from 'other countries' coming into the UK. They are originally from Yorkshire.

She led their side but kept looking to him for support. Anyway, amongst many comments that I batted away she said 'Aren't you worried about all the rapes by the foreigners. Aren't you worried for your two daughters?'

To which I replied, 'I was more worried for my 4 sisters when the Yorkshire Ripper was out and about'. She STFU.
To follow on from this. She reckoned that Trump was great. 'Look what he's doing to bring world peace' she said.

I asked the question 'What has he done?'

The answer was something to do with Ukraine which begged the question: 'What has he done?' She offered nothing other than a look towards her partner for some help.

Saw her again on Friday. She now hates Trump for what he said about British soldiers.

When people say this country is at its worst right now I question that.

I'm a child of the 80's and Liverpool was deprived struggling with a drugs overdose. Glasgow was overrun with drugs and violence and ice cream vans sold heroin.

Northern Ireland was a warzone.

But, apparently the country today is at its worse??

People believe what the media say and repeat it. Is today that bad??

I'm not sure to be honest.

It's loads worse now, you can't even get a coffee in the city centre. Then when you eventually find one you have to pay on card

All depends on what you class good and bad..

You bring up Drugs
I'll match that with Social Media
( And Drugs haven't disapeared )

I'm not saying which is better/Worse, but you can probably counter every point from each perspective..

Bit patronising to say we think it because we read it
Say it because I've lived it
