A Message from Bill Kenwright to Evertonians on the club website

But he cant, and that's been proven conclusively time and time again. He cant even be trusted to recycle the money coming in from players.

He's the wrong man for Everton. He was from the off. Since then he's also landed us with people who he cant fully control. The reason that the debate never goes away is that their moving on is central to things changing for the better.

Of course he can't control other shareholders, as he only has a 24% stake. It wouldn't matter who else was a major shareholder, he couldn't completely control the direction of the business unless he gained a majority stake.

Which is precisely why he shouldn't have taken control in 1999. The feller wasn't a white knight to the rescue when Johnson needed buying out either, because he was hell bent on getting control of the club for a decade prior to that and had one consortium knocked back. He didn't have the cash and we've all had to pay for that as he's gotten people on board who dont see anything but future profit potential, who wont invest, and who have already jeapordised the future of this club with that preposterous Kirkby move.

Kenwright may only be 24% of the shareownership but he is 100% the source of our off-field problems.

Dave I can understand why you say that buit have to say I do not that BK is wholly culpable for the club's problems. The other board members would have had a hand in it and hvae been party to decisions made.

If BK owns 24% of the shares, does anyone know how the remaining 76% is apportioned.

There weren't too many of us complaining back then, when we were desperate to see the back of agent Johnson though mate...

What he should have done is steadied the ship & then sold up the minute Moyes somehow managed to get us into 4th place, thus giving us a shot at the CL.

Bill's never had the ability to fund the club, even on a short term loan basis, & the way the game has gone, that makes him a throwback to yesteryear in terms of how the club has been forced to operate.

On the up side we've avoided the boom / bust cycle of some of our peers, on the down side we've only made progress on the pitch due to good football management & excellent use of the limited transfer budgets.

Kenwright is one of 3 major shareholders, they are all equally culpable for our lack off field progress, he bares the brunt as he chose to take the Chairman's seat. So whilst he put himself there to be shot at, to say he's 100% responsible avoids the truth. If he died tomorrow, his shares would either by kept by his wife or sold on, another board member would take the hot seat & knack all would change, unless they collective decided to sell up.

Dressing Bill up as EFC's bogeyman avoid having to deal with the harsh realities of what would realistically change when he moves on, unless we drop for a benefactor.

The only way a boom and bust cycle occurs is when investment is made and then clawed back. Quite obviously that has never been the model adopted. The model adopted has had more of a corrosive effect than the spectacular implosion: selling to players. It's led to the sickening feeling of lack of control over out own destiny when a manager is trying to build something and then has it ripped away because of financial mismanagement.

Kenwright chose those other people to run with. In and of themselves those people (all of them) would not have had any involvement with EFC without their own connection to Kenwright: all roads lead to him. He is 100% to blame for this off-field inadequacy because in his desperation to stick around he's reached out to some dodgy characters.

Kenwright is someone who has scuppered or help scupper two stadium bids in order to become and then stay top dog at the club: the first under Johnson's chairmanship when he backed supporters opposed to Johnson's plan to build close to Kirkby golf course; the next when he thwarted the KD rescue plan put forward to secure the club's wedge in the stadium part of the scheme. That tells you all you need to know about how desperate he is to retain control even at the cost of the club moving forward.

Nice feller? Maybe. To be trusted as Everton supremo? No chance.

Match ambition, yada yada - there's a lot out there slating kenwright for not taking the club forward and six swigs of bud later working out that wins against west Brom and the ****e has our dark horse title challenge back on course !

Correct. The board thread in miniature. You have to dig deep to find any real content or substance beyond the usual "Kenwright is a cancer and a pestilence on this club" rhetoric.

There probably shouldn't be any depth at all to this thread to be honest. The chairman just said he loves Everton and the clubs special.
Like you say, the usual suspects using it as an excuse to have a good old rant though.

or the Southampton Chairman as long as BK supports RM - The team will move on cash is nice, but at least he is an Evertonian at the helm - If he does sell our club - I feel it will be to the right new owners!
