I believe Arsenal still has a tough road ahead of them.

I keep thinking back to our first three matches and if only...if only...if only.

Where I honestly think we need to concentrate is on the teams below us in the table that we should beat. No slip ups there. Take care of business against those teams (i.e. no more losses to teams like Sunderland) and then see what you can get against the top teams. But it doesn't do you a whole lot of good if you beat ManU at home and then lose to West Brom away.

Think about this. We are a late Sturridge header and 3 points against Sunderland if Howard doesn't get sent off, away from being top of the league.

Hoping the team will feel quite fresh on Wednesday.

Barry had a little rest, Pienaar & Mirallas only played bit-part today so should be fresh.

Baines & Alcaraz only just come into the fold, should be fit enough and games will do them good.

Oviedo & Coleman are just stallions with relentless energy.

Howard to resume goalkeeping duty too.

Hope so, mate.
One big effort on NYD and then I'll be quite happy to see the squad players take over for the FAC 3rd round tie.

Important that our regular starters Lukaku, Barkley, Mirallas, Distin, Coleman get some rest, even if they feel they don't need it at this stage. There's still more than half a season's worth of games to go (hopefully).

Tis great to be an Evertonian at the moment with us looking down on the fifth placed Reds at the start of the New Year. I really enjoyed the victory over the Saints with five changes to the squad. We are achieving success with different combinations which always bodes well for a championship caliber team. Alcaraz seem to be Johnny on the spot for most of the game.

lets see how we perform in our next 3 games, as its these sort of games we **** up on we play well against the big boys but I feel we switch off to much and don't give the opposition the respect they deserve (look at Osman against sunderland) would he have been so casual if we was playing Utd/RS with rooney/Suarez down his neck I highly doubt it

No titles or cups for 4th place. Sure it's great to be there and all that and I'd love to be 4th at the end of the season as a platform for better things, but you don't see the honors list as 9 leagues, 5 FA cups, 1 ECWC and then XX 4th place.

Fourth place is an enabler, not a destination. It allows you to take the next step with increased revenue and profile. You can afford, and can attract, the best players.

I want that platform. If we get that, trophies will follow.

Exactly. Ask yourself this. If we had a crucial game to determine getting 4th or 5th, and a cup game in the same week, and you had to rest players for one or the other which would you?

Cup all day.

League comes first.

Thing is there's nothing flukey about it we've tw@tted the so called top teams beating or drawing the monied fannys and except City outplaying the lot.

It's only the hangover of years of cacking it and the ingrained philosophy of excuses that makes it slightly surreal - just glad a generation are seeing a real Everton side rather than the fraudulent shte of the past decade.

Most pleasing thing was the retaliation- a defeat against a relegation threatened Sunderland could have acted as a catalyst for another one against a very good Southampton side. Wouldn't have happened in previous years- ignore the media's patronising media's 'plucky little everton' quotes, keep our heads down, get on with our business professionally but with a smile and finish ahead of the RS for a THIRD CONSECUTIVE SEASON! COYB!!
