30 min walk

Alternatively, instead of musing amongst yourselves as to the likely provision of parking facilities at Kirkby, you could simply read the 6th page of the document sent out with the petition for an EGM, all handily linked for you on the Toffeeweb Homepage?:) Top right corner, lead story I suppose - shouldn't be able to miss it.

In summary, there will be 2,500 spaces within 20 minutes of the ground; at 3 passengers (average) per car (Steers Davies' report; Everton/Tesco's consultants), that's 7,500 spectators. The other 42,500 can swivel. I'll let you read the rest of the item and then we'll pick up the thread from there.(y)

To contrast the matchgoing experiences outlined earlier, travel from Birkenhead to Walton - 40 minutes, inclusive of 25 minutes in pub in Birkenhead. Park up off Westminster Road, walk to pub - say 10 minutes. Walk to the ground, 5 minutes. No fees involved in parking; 15 minutes drive, 15 minutes walk in aggregate. Going home - pop into pub for one and thne back to Birkenhead - traffic has died down by then; we avoid County Road anyway by using Stanley - options, options. None available at Kirkby unfortunately (yes, I 've been there before you ask!)

I'm sure that Colney will be alright (although the club have yet to specifically declare the disabled provisions) but that just means more of the rest of us able-bodied will be at least 30 minutes walk away from the ground (Kirkby residents excepted - do your own calculations!). And the 'transport' improvements are road widenings to assist the retail side of the developement and the away team coach; they'll be of minimal benefit for the ordinary matchgoing Joe and won't involve any enhancement of public transport. Junction improvements at Valley Road are irrelevant if you're on the East Lancs, the side of town where the 'park and hike' sites will be. Going to get through a load of Kendal Mint Cake, if I were to go!

Macca, how will "the rest of us able-bodied be 30 minutes walk away from the ground"

You could walk from one end of Kirkby to the other in 30 minutes mate (y)

Where are these people walking from for it to be 30 minutes?

The whole transport argument baffles me.

Christ almighty Cal

How you can criticise driving and parking to Kirkby is beyond me. You clearly have never been to Kirkby mate (y), the East Lancs to the site would cost about £2 quid in a taxi.

The parking at Goodison is horrendous. Its about a fiver to get some scally to 'mind your car', then you have to wait about half an hour to get out of a gate. I literally did once.

Accessibility and parking is the least concern with regards to Kirkby in my opinion. No doubt me an Chris will be moaning about not being able to park outside ours if it goes ahead though....

You dont agree with Kirkby, which is fair enough. But dont try and look for some negativity with every aspect. Its not all bad (y)

You never know with the cost's of taxi's these days.

I don't tend to venture into Kirkby much, although i have been there.

Honestly mate, transport is sound. Cant see were any concerns are. At the end of the day, 40,000 get into Goodison sound so 50,000 could easily get into the Kirkby site. I am not as pro Kirkby as I used to be, I have my doubts. I am only really 'pro Kirkby' because I cant see any other feasible alternative - but the whole transport argument doesn't really wash with me.

possible options-
M57, Dunningsbridge, southport rd, stanley rd
Valley rd, walton vale, hornby rd, southort rd, stanley rd
east lancs, scottie rd
train to kirkby 10/15 min walk (£2.30 return from town)
taxi from town £12

i read 90 mins, you can walk from goodison in that time, maybe it's going to be a public transport venue like wembley. when i went to the 1st game i rang to enquire about parking and was told that it was public transport only, i replied with "ill just hop on the tube at the end of the street should i " the train to london wouldve been about £240 and the tube another £30 or so for 5 people, we went in the car and booked the carpark (next to the stadium) by claiming we were going to see lionel ritchie on the night, "oh what a feeling". why cant they have a carpark under the stadium in kirkby ? or do we have to go into tesco for a paper to get parking ? will the events thast the coouncil hold there have parking ?
lots of questions.............no answers.

240£ from London to Liverpool by train?!?!? WTF....

Here we go from Lisbon to (O)Porto for 40£!

will there be cycle racks ?
after all the way its going who'll be able to afford the petrol on top of the ticket ?
and what about the carbon footprint ?
will there be any solar panels ?

no need to worry, i know one of the guys on bk has suggested setting up a rickshaw business, although i prefer the idea of bringing back the sedan chair!

GOT - perhaps the walk won't start in Kirkby (except if you live in Kirkby obviously - but even then there's nothing to stop you from walking or cycling out of Kirkby to walk back in with the rest I suppose; could usefully build up a sense of solidarity and togetherness currently absent from the fan base).

Hey, I don't work for Steer Davies - ask them, they wrote the transport plan; ask BK or KW, they appointed Steer Davies, not me. There's a link offered - read it? (y) The transport plan wasn't written by the EGM petitioners or those who oppose the move (unless there are double agents in Steers Davies:blink:).

And a2b chris, the transport plan shows where everyone is headed for; your routes are all perfectly valid except that the terminus for everyone's journey isn't a different part of a wide perimeter around the stadium accessed fairly uniformly from all points of the compass; it's somewhere to park for the stadium, which locations are all concentrated and accessed at the East Lancs end. Your journey calculations may be the epitome of accuracy and fine research; Speke supporters may save time on the car ride, but they'll may spend more time than they save on teh walk, and certainly longer if they go by train. If you disagree with the SD report, tell them not me. As stated above, I didn't write it and Bill has assured me that it wasn't Korky the Cat.:D Anyway, the topic was routes to GP - keep up (no lagging behind, it's KO in 10 minutes and we're in the 40 minutes away car park). Of course, we could go on about parking on the Liverpool side of the M57 etc (lollipop men on the motorway!b)), but those areas will quickly get Residents Parking Scheme'd. And have you seen the price of fuel - so that's a 'no' to long winding diversions!

Agree that County Road between Queens Drive and the Black Bull is the slowest moving road in the world at all times of day, every day of the week (except the M62 at the Rocket when the RS are at home).

No wonder you're baffled - try reading the publicly available documents submitted by the club, prepared on behalf of the club, and if you disagree take it up with the DK professional team. They'll be delighted to recieve your invaluable assistance in pointing out the crass errors in their reports; they'll think you're GEIKs (Get Everton in Kirkby):D

this guys got the right idea, she can go to tesco for 90 mins

st.johns kirkby

The kirkby ground, has less than 700 spaces for cars for matchday traffic and cannot dispurse for an hour after the game, there will be residents parking for a wide area around the ground ,which Everton have to pay for and the councils own transpot plans have only account for 32000 fans in their plan, Merseytravel also state they will not putting on extra rail services and could have trouble getting hold of buses on a sat from other transport areas .
Its in the plans that have been widely published

Re-develop Goodison.
