It is, but the situation in Gaza is basically the Trolley Problem come to life for American voters. Choosing not to intervene is a choice in and of itself.

I believe Harris is poised to win this, and by a larger margin than many are predicting. The reversal of Roe v. Wade and the ongoing assault on women's rights have, in my view, severely damaged any chance Trump might have had. If this issue doesn't tip the balance, it will be difficult to view the U.S. in the same way. Women, like the suffragettes before them, have fought long and hard to secure the rights they rightfully deserve. Any man of conscience should stand firmly in support of this struggle.

I don’t think she will win in my own personal non-US view. Based on consensus of a few US mates and my gut feeling, I hope she does for women’s rights alone though.

I’d want to see the fine print on that promise. Would he actually eliminate the tax on overtime, or just the withholding from the paychecks? If it’s the latter, it’s just like the bait and switch from his tax “cuts” while he was in office. They started withholding less, but didn’t actually lower the taxes. The end result was that lower income people, many of whom have come to depend on getting a tax refund every spring, either didn’t get one the first year after the changes, or in many cases actually ended up owing the IRS money.

My personal take on these scenarios is that I don't agree with any of them. Exactly like my stance on illegal immigration, I don't like it and I want it stopped.

This is where I think those on the right get confused, they think that we all want a free for all. In my opinion, as a left leaning person is that there should be access to move country. I am not talking about 100% open borders but a system that negates the need for illegal immigration. A process in place for a fair and efficient application policy to become a resident, and after some time a citizen, of another country. That would be the end game for any policy that I would support on immigration.

The illegals are not coming over to steal anybody's jobs or tickets to an FA cup final. They are illegal, I guess their main hope is many but one could be to remove themselves from a dangerous situation in the home country. By definition they are illegal, they have no rights, they have no IDs that would enable them to legally work in the country.

The fact is the people on the right want to simplify it and create a hyperbolic situation where they are ALL criminals and coming over to steal your job, fraud the benefit system and/or rape and pillage.

That a nation of immigrants would learn to hate immigrants is one of the worst poisons of all

It’s not just that. He’s gorgeous, has dynamite hair, white smile, beautiful bronzed skin, deep blue eyes, fantastic sense of humour, loves the ladies and above all, he has a 9 inch trouser snake tucked away in his boxers.

I have heard the same from a couple of mates but as you say, simply on the basis of womens rights it is a litmus test for the US society. I can't believe they'll fail to do the right thing. It will be deeply disturning if they do not.

Super quiet at the polls this morning, although I hear early voting was exceptionally busy. Also, we've got rain this morning and our tickets only had 3 choices: President, Congress (Speaker Mike Johnson vs someone even crazier than him), State law. I voted in 30s after reading it all and double checking my vote twice.

For what its worth, i dont think Trump stands a chance of winning. Because i don't think the powers that be will allow it.

They were arrogant in 2016 and thought it couldnt happen, so they got the surprise of their lives and instantly went about undermining him at every turn, and have done so ever since.

He increased his number of votes from 16 to 20, and i can see a scenario were he gets more votes again, and still loses to an even bigger Harris total. And if that happens, then there is definitely some shenanigans at play, because she is so very, very awful.

Like seriously terrible.

The VP with the lowest ever approval rating, who was 1 of the least popular candidates ever, installed without receiving 1 vote, because she was already VP to an incompetent president unfit to run, something she lied about repeatedly, and they needed to keep the money already raised in donations.

Someone who failed spectacularly in her primary task of overlooking the border.

Someone with no personality, who cannot speak without a script, and cant answer questions.

Someone who has claimed to run on joy, but has instead ran on hate, backed by 2 of the worst warhawk republicans you could find, who you all hated until they supported her.

Someone who cannot/will not distance themselves from the failed, current administration that is overwhelmingly unpopular, but somehow also believes she is the change that is needed.

She is woeful, and if any of you are honest, not 1 of you are voting for her. You are all voting against Trump, because you have had the hatred instilled in you through a decade of manipulation.
