It’s not enough to defeat Trump. He must be destroyed and all he stood for similarly ruined and ridiculed, including those who through thick or nefarious motivations backed him. Only by crushing him and them can future generations breathe easier.

Then after all is said and done, the Republican Party seriously need to give their head a wobble and take a long, hard look at themselves.
History simply cannot afford to repeat itself again.
The GOP have showed their true colours and how willing they are to debase themselves for power, and to pain their opponents. I think it’s only a matter of time someone smarter than Trump (not a difficult task) comes in with a refined playbook and ends their democracy. The world needs to prepare.

One would hope that common sense and logic will prevail, but then again, this is 'Merica we're talking about.
The GOP hasn't won the popular vote for 20 years and doesn't look like doing so again anytime soon. Their backward-looking and anachronistic worldview is fading and they know this, and have realised that the only way they can keep their grasp on power is through chicanery. They no longer believe in democracy and will resort to violence once the chicanery no longer works.

I remain cautiously optimistic that this actually won’t end up happening if he’s beaten this time. Four years ago I would have agreed with you, but everything that’s happened since November 2020 has changed my opinion of Trump/MAGA being what I once thought was just a political movement, and instead now is clearly just a full-blown cult. There are precious few examples throughout history where the cult leader exiting the stage isn’t all that’s required to break the fever. For whatever reason, it’s almost always specifically about that one individual, and the followers never coalesce around a successor. Trump being 80 helps. He’ll be exiting the stage one way or another in pretty short order.
When he does lose, it will be utterly fascinating (entertaining) to watch the rats climb over each other to abandon ship.
