Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

It’s like people don’t understand just how much more pro-Israel any Republican President would be. The reality is that for as objectionable as Biden’s position on this matter is, it’s about as middle of the road as a mainstream politician in the US can get away with being.
I haven't the faintest idea what Trump would do. We have never observed a true lame duck, unconstrained Trump (whether that's because of term limits or his refusal to leave the Oval Office). You could tell me that he will snort amphetamines off Putin's bare chest in Beit Aghion, with Netanyahu looking on in approval, while giving the order to launch every nuclear weapon the United States has. I would be forced to concede this is at least plausible.

Any other Republican candidate would be at least as pro-Israel as Biden, IMO.

As in the above scenario, he'd do what Putin tells him to do.

Let's face it, Republicans aren't pro-Israel, in a vacuum.

They're anti-Muslim, so if it's a binary choice, than means pro-Israel

Not really, no. It's obvious Trump would be a disaster - and I would vote for Biden in the morning were I American - but on a moral basis I'm appalled at his hypocrisy and fully expect him to lose votes of moderate people on this out of pure revulsion. I doubt he'll win more votes than Trump by being cosy with Israeli human rights abuses, but I'm pretty sure he'll lose plenty of people who would never vote for Trump by failing to moderate the Israeli headbangers in government. They'll stay at home.

Biden has disgraced himself and some of us expected just a little more.

And that's just not good enough. Sorry. If that's "mainstream", then those likely to vote for fascism and barbarism will vote for the real thing.

How much more pro-Israeli could Trump be? Well, after 10,000 murders, short of dropping a nuclear bomb I'm not sure it's going to matter. Don't get me wrong. I liked Biden. He's been a good president by American standards. But he has lost all moral authority after this. He has debased himself. I'd say "and the USA", too, but you know...

I could debate parts of this, I'll just say that questioning Biden's actions and policies related to his presidency is more appropriate in the "Joe Biden - POTUS" thread instead of the "2024 POTUS race" thread

Unquestionably, any Republican would bring fire and brimstone to any Muslim part of the world, then defecate on the ashes

They would. Biden's merely a milder despot.

I would think either side would find it tougher to get elected without Jewish support

I ran the numbers. Don't recall which thread(s). Throwing the Muslim vote under the bus probably loses fewer electoral votes. It turns out that losing either is a huge problem, though. I knew that going whole-hog Israel spots the opponent Michigan, but the margins are so thin in the swing states that losing the vote of either demographic is a huge problem.

If there's good news for Biden in all of this, it's that the Republicans in the House will hand him unforced errors like censuring Tlaib. What wins in their districts is not what wins the presidency.

If I'm being really cynical again, this is why Biden charted this course. If he loses the Jewish vote, it's gone. If he loses the Muslim vote, the Republicans are likely to do things in the next twelve months that hand it back.

Apropos nothing; How many times has Trump said Obama when I presume he meant Biden?
Is this deliberate or is he losing it now.

He’s probably losing it even more these days, but I’m not sure attacking his mental state is a winning formula given the gaffes/mental blocks Biden demonstrates with regularity. They both really need to step aside but neither will.
