Guessing both will call it a win in which case it was probably a draw. Vance came across as more human than he has at any point in the campaign so far. Walz carried on doing what he has been doing in being relatable and being passionate about the issues that really matter to him.

Walz was awful.

Caught out and spluttering on his claims to have been in Tianamen Square when the crackdown happened and having to admit he was never there.

I think that would have stuck in most people's minds as the stand out moment.

Vance is a Yale educated lawyer, who has spent countless hours debating

Walz is a high school teacher who probably isn’t the best “debater” in the purest sense of the word

By pretty much anyone’s account, Vance will “win” this debate, since debates aren’t judged by how true the responses are. From
A pure performative sense, Vance will be very good I have no doubt

But it’s all performative fakeness. Walz needs to just be who he is, and not try to become a defense lawyer in this debate

He got caught out and admitted he "mis-spoke" (lied) about his personal history.

From that people inevitably wonder what else he's lied about.

I said his folksy approach would eventually be his undoing.

By the way, why when faced with one of the two men he's called 'weird' for the last few months didn't he repeat the jibe?

Again, I'd look at that and wonder about his personal integrity and fortitude.

He came across as flakey and a bit out of his depth.

Politico's snap poll of actual voters didn't jibe with this assessment. Interestingly, self-identified independent voters in the survey thought Walz won.

As is often the case, Dems are bed-wetters when their candidate isn't the clear winner and GOP voters are simply cultists about debate performances.

The Bulwark noted it was the difference between a teacher and a prosecutor when Walz failed to put the boot in on a number of occasions.
His explanation of policy was more detailed but Vance was slicker it has to be said.
Walz still infinitely more likeable and the respectful nature of the debate overall only serves to highlight what a repugnant man Trump is
