Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

It is projection.

Trump has already rejected California wildfire emergency requests in the past and on multiple instances threatened emergency aid if he is elected.
The Trump administration has rejected the California government’s request for federal disaster relief funds to help the state recover from its devastating wildfires this year, state officials said late Thursday, after President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the Democratic-led state for its handling of the fires.

They say that there’s so much water up north that I want to have the overflow areas go into your forests and dampen your forests, because if you dampen your forests you’re not gonna have these forest fires that are burning at levels that nobody’s ever seen,” Trump told the California Republican Party during its September 2023 convention.
Trump has made the case that California should be soaking the ground to drive home what he believes is the state’s own culpability for some of its most devastating wildfires. He’s threatened multiple times to withhold federal aid from the state unless it explores his preferred tactics, including ground-wetting.
“I said, ‘You’ve got to clean your floors, you got to clean your forests.’ They have many, many years of leaves and broken trees. And they’re so flammable. You touch them and it goes up,” he said during a rally in August 2020. “Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it because they don’t listen to us.”
Scientists are far from sold on the idea.

I fully expect a Trump second term would reject many emergency aid requests by California - despite many of our state emergencies such as wildfires happening in Trump voting districts.
I seem to remember him calling Puerto Ricans and one of their Mayors ‘ungrateful’ after they criticised the response to the hurricane in 2017. A truly loathe some individual.

It'll be interesting to see how 'Coach' Walz squares up to Vance tonight.what sense?
In what sense?

Vance is a Yale educated lawyer, who has spent countless hours debating

Walz is a high school teacher who probably isn’t the best “debater” in the purest sense of the word

By pretty much anyone’s account, Vance will “win” this debate, since debates aren’t judged by how true the responses are. From
A pure performative sense, Vance will be very good I have no doubt

But it’s all performative fakeness. Walz needs to just be who he is, and not try to become a defense lawyer in this debate

Whether you like these two or not, this is more in line with what a debate should look like. I’ve listened to 5 minutes and it’s already so much more professional than the two presidential debates…Trump is of course the common denominator with those two.
I don’t agree with most of Vance’s positions but he is way better in a debate than he is in most situations he’s found himself in during this campaign so far. Walz has been doing a good job too in an arena he is probably not as comfortable with.

And as you say, it’s been a lot more professional and respectful than any debate you would see Trump involved in.

As far as debating goes, Vance is more polished than Walz. Expectedly so. As far as believability, Walz is winning that aspect. Unsurprising on both counts but such a different dynamic here than with the trump debates.
