Christie pulling ahead of desantis in new Hampshire. Could certainly be due to the ugliness of desantis's politics but also that they have seen someone willing to take on trump

This isn't surprising given it's New Hampshire. They have a (relatively) normal Republican governor. Their electorate leans more libertarian than the true believer dark red GOP socially conservative hotbeds of the south.

In my opinion, Christie made his bed by getting into it with Trump in the first place. He's a moderate and I bet he's feeling in retrospect if he had stayed out of that chaotic circle he'd be in better shape right now to try to take the party back from Trump (although I think they are too far gone for that to happen anyway)

This is saying something. John Sununu (H.W.'s chief of staff, and the governor's father) was an absolute nutter who abused government travel like he was a Supreme Court justice while Chief of Staff. My favorite story about him is how he took a government limo from D.C. to New York to spend $5k on stamps at Christie's.

His son becoming a mainstream Republican is a story that has been told countless times on both sides of the aisle, but now that I get to live through them I always find myself saying, "His kid is the new normal?!?"

The problem with DeSantis in this primary isn't his politics so much as it is his tactics; he is fighting this as if Trump isn't running and trying to capture headlines with his anti-woke, tough on whatever posturing. It isn't working because Trump is crazier, doesn't have anything to hold him back (such as reality) and dominates headlines by getting indicted.

What he should do is just talk about how old Trump is, that everything he did could be done better by a younger man. It will drive Trump nuts.

Bidens policies are sensible enough and he has had some good results as a life long and experienced career politician. It's just perhaps not prudent for an 82 year old to be the most important politician on the planet. Out of sheer desperation I'm just hoping its not going to be an anti-science right winger like a Trump or desantis, as a species this next era is too important.

Did you think of that all by yourself…well done….

doesn't matter if it drives Trump nuts. It wont shift Trumps base and will just lose DeSantis votes.
They're all trying to out Trump Trump without incurring his wrath while waiting, fingers crossed, to see if one of the indictments will force him out of the race.

Christie is the only one taking him on but he's a complete bell end and even the republican voters know that.

You know what’s going to happen. If Biden runs then Trump will spin it all out before running and winning the election, then pardon himself. …..

What's with the snarky response there?
That was a good concise summary.
Biden has done steadily well if not spectacular. He's worked across the aisle as well as keeping the moderates and progressives in his own party from killing each other. He has the respect of the likes of McConnell which, unfortunately, probably goes a long way.
The right can't really go after him on policy so theyre going after his son and the way he carries himself. A fairly clear sign that he's doing ok.
But Walken's right. He's too old and it's a huge cloud over the future of reasonable politics in America.

Joe Biden is the kind of politician you'd love being a UK tory, the ultimate centerist democrat. But unfortunately Murdock is telling you otherwise on the regular so you're not a fan at all.

spin what all out?
and why would Trump beat biden this time if he lost to him last time?
Do you really think he'd get enough moderate republicans and over half the independents??
Not. a. chance.

Every republican knows if Trump gets the nomination, they're toast.

It was personal… I just thought I’d give the guy a taste of his own snarky comments….

I think he’ll spin out the court cases. I also think that obviously his normal base will vote for him, but as I’ve mentioned once or twice there is something uncomfortable about this determined and wide ranging effort to indict him which may sway the middle ground voter who may view it as being unfair……but who knows……

Yes but you also think theres something uncomfortable about the coke in the WH story. Which hasnt been taken up by the house and has pretty much blown over here.
The feeling of political targeting is coming from Trumps base, not the independents he desperately needs.
This will be the first election since Jan 6.
That had a huge impact on what people think of Trump and the MAGA movement. Most Americans are sick to the back teeth of the whole thing.

It will be interesting to say the least. Obviously over here we see and read a different perspective but at the end of the day it’s your choice…..
