This. It has been so tiresome for so long. Enough is enough.Ahhh, US politics.
Can we just fast forward to November and hope the big orange windbag is canned please?
I think someone already explained it as I recall - convicted in NY state on state laws so can vote in Florida. As a convicted felon, is trump now unable to vote at all?
Harris going into the booth to cast her vote will be an interesting photo op, "I wouldn't ask you to vote for someone if I weren't convinced to vote for them to" etc.
Walz current +11 popularity would suggest it isn’t.It's so weird that JD continues to talk bad about Tim Waltz 24 years of service Army National Guard, I hope he continues. I do not think it's a popular talking point.
After 24 years in I doubt it was a case of "abandoning his unit" as Vance portrayedWalz current +11 popularity would suggest it isn’t.
It probably resonates well with voters he already has, we’ll see if it does for undecideds. The campaign is clearly targeting younger males so it might but the Iraq war is now so unpopular that even if a person believes their spin of “he got out of the army to avoid going to Iraq” a lot of them are going to think it was sensible. It is why “bone spurs to avoid Vietnam” isn’t an effective hit on Trump either.
Trump was kinda right when he said that nobody really votes for the VP anyway - the time Vance is using to bash Walz on this could probably be better directed (for their purposes) on Harris.
Oh it is an outright smear, he reupped after 9/11 when he could have left and he handed in his papers long before his unit got Iraq deployment notification and it was so he could run for Congress. After 24 years in I doubt it was a case of "abandoning his unit" as Vance portrayed
Urban warfare is "a young man's game" and at age 41 he was coming to the end and having done 24 years (the minimium to retire is 20) he's done more than his fair share, he would have been beyond the enlistment age of 35 too. He wasn't a commissioned officer either.
I don't believe he would ever have been expected to go to Iraq.
The only time they would start looking at over 40s is if there's a major war and start drafting people, up to the age of 44 under current US federal law
It's really desperate stuff from Trump and Vance
Really.
When you're in your 20s you have less experience but physically in terms of stuff it's easier as you're younger and in terms of physical endurance. It was easier to do some of the physical stuff when I was in my 20s to now
He was up for retirement and he took it. Wasn’t like he abandoned anyone or deserted. It’s just another smear attempt by a desperate bunch who knows they’re falling behind. After 24 years in I doubt it was a case of "abandoning his unit" as Vance portrayed

Yeah looking into it a bit more he enlisted April 1981, 2 days after his 17th birthday and retired May 2005. National Guard serivce terms seem to be 8 years so it all appears pretty normal. He was up for retirement and he took it. Wasn’t like he abandoned anyone or deserted. It’s just another smear attempt by a desperate bunch who knows they’re falling behind.
