If you're a Democrat, though, you do wonder what happens when the novelty is over of Harris replacing Biden. Just running on a message that "if you dont vote for me you get Trump" wasn't working for Biden, so why would it work for Harris? Her lack of vision forced her to stand down once before when running for the Democratic nomination. Lacking vision is ok sometimes: the dullard Starmer presented none and got in here with a landslide. But the situation is different for Harris; she's pretty much the 'incumbent' and has to re-energise the electorate with a programme.

Harris can string two sentences together without losing her train of thought. Honestly Dave, I think you’re overestimating our candidate bar here. We weren’t asking for much.

I think for political quiescence the Democrats have thrown their retention of the WH away.

Newsom could have been the clean slate they needed to wipe the floor with Trump.

Hopefully Trump comes a cropper with something from leftfield.

Nothing to fix the "border crisis" that they voted against a solution on earlier this year

Nothing to "improve" Obamacare.

Nothing to "fix inflation".

Instead all that they've done is double and triple down on making it nearly impossible for women to get an abortion, making it more difficult on families to pay for child care, and widening the wealth gap. They have literally no message except the culture wars. While also finding ways to alienate people without children.

So within that context, anything Kamala has to offer is at least something.

Newsom is a great speaker.

That's about it though. He's the epitome of the pretty, talkative form over substance guy that everyone loves until they get underneath the hood

There is virtually no chance Trump would ever get on a debate stage with Harris.

Even he knows he'd get slaughtered in that matchup
