Being fair to Dave, I know he's not a Trump fan. But it's absolutely nailed on he will spend about 95% of this election cycle hammering the Democrats and saying absolutely nothing about the Republicans. Similar to how his main issue with the invasion of Ukraine is low level Ukrainian political corruption and not the fact that a dictator has amassed an army and invaded another country, killing and displacing millions. I can't say I understand him very well tbh

Well I wouldn’t rule out aliens landing shortly either but a serious contender I think is just as likely. There are 106 days to the election - less if you have to win the nomination at the convention at the end of August. Harris has a made to go campaign org and the only one who can access Biden campaign funds.

Dean Philips might try to re-enter (he suspended his campaign and endorsed Biden) and who the hell knows what Marianne Williams will do but a person with an actual chance of the nomination?

IMO the already bad polling for her vis-a-vis Trump in terms of disapproval will see someone from the Democratic ranks to step forward.

Its the same with the Tories - they are nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with them. Same with the GOP.

Attacking them would be a complete waste of time. Asking for a candidate that can beat Trump however is less pointless.

The thing about her is she isn't an ideologically driven politician and I think that's needed to beat Trump. More a political wheeler dealer who has a hobby horse or two.

She needs to produce an alternative vision for the US to get past Trump. I dont see it.

Is the Democratic calculation now that they expect to lose the WH but less of their candidates 'down ballot' will lose their races in the senate / house than if Biden continued to soldier on?

That's the only reason I can see for allowing a frankly flawed candidate like Harris to go forward.

Add in the almost $100 million in grassroots donations that is quite a lot of money for get out the vote and advertising

I think she'd flatten Trump, whereas Harris will be annihilated by him.

I think you're giving Trump way too much credit. He's really not a great debater and will likely try to pull out of any remaining debates. He stands to win nothing by going head to head with anyone other than an 81 year old Joe Biden.

Harris's previous career as a prosecutor is pretty much perfect preparation for politics.

Trump will look like the buffoon he is to undecideds and non-cult moderates.

We’ll find out in a little over 100 days. It is a short window to turn the campaign around but it was sinking with Biden.

Just anecdotally a lot of my politically active friends feel far more enthusiastic and motivated to help her campaign than they were 24 hours ago.
