Off the top of my head... @Hogwild is in Houston area, then it will eventually pass over @SerenityNigh later in the day much weakened.
Our office in Lake Charles had to evacuate under mandatory order and our utility provider sent out a map of likely power outages that cover us in NWLA. Usually we don't get much more than wind but I think this one will be very, very wind, indeed.
The worst part in the article is. When they serve their time and get out they cannot get a job with the very people they helped. Simply becuase they have a criminal record.
Some counties and cities have tried passing ordinance to help that but ultimately the law states that anyone who has a conviction cannot be given a state sanctioned or funded job.
They are hoping to change it. In the state that is.
Fire departments are complicated here. You have to privately train and then hope for the best for even a regular post in any of the departments in this state.
For the cal fire jobs you can get a part time position during fire season but to be a full time employee you have to have a post or had a post in a station somewhere.
We usually don't get bad weather in this part of the state, but I think I'll get extra water and beer just in case.
