But Sanders is proposing a system akin to only having the NHS, no private option. Pie in the sky stuff.

Its a tough sell and will be near impossible to impose because of the pull and sway of the insurance companies and drug companies.

The big insurers like United, anthem and aetna hire tens of thousands of people too.

It would be easier for them to reign them in. Work on cheaper drug prices and medical costs.

We defo all want cheaper insurance and drug prices in this country.

Just look at the GOP attempt. How many years they complained about obamacare and their failure for a replacement simply because i bet none of them really wanted to touch that can of worms.

Wasn't aware he wanted rid of private insurance. Maybe on Star Trek the next gen but not gonna happen any time soon. Need to allow private insurance to exist and shrink to cover people rich enough to want unnecessary procedure at their whim or as their provider upsells.

What's the reason for Biden polling so high? Ignorance? Brand recognition?
Currently has large support from non-white voters and older voters

Biden’s coalition has some distinctive features. According to recent primary polls, he does well with older voters, gets support from both white and nonwhite voters and, according to a Quinnipiac poll, performs better with moderate and somewhat liberal voters than he does with very liberal voters.

It's baffling me too. Would be easy meat for Trump.
Literally nobody is going to be "easy" for Trump.

That's not to say he won't end up winning, but if he does, it's going to be a razor thin win, whoever he's up against.

EDIT: Oh, and there's people in the running who would be significantly "easier" (or less difficult) for Trump than Biden.

Sure, Warren would be worse, and probably Sanders at this point. But all three would be eaten by Trump in my view. Not a razor thin win - I honestly think he'd increase his majority.

The Dems need someone who can be inspirational to their base but also moderate enough to win over fringe Trump voters. That means someone who isn't a traditional part of the perceived "elite" (Biden/Warren) or someone who has perceived daft hard left policies (Sanders).

They'll need someone who is politically central but new to the scene. For me, I'd be going with O'Rourke or Buttigieg. They're very difficult for Trump to successfully attack and rile his base against, whereas Biden is stained by Obama for both good and ill and Warren is the textbook definition of the Democratic political elite, very much akin to Clinton (not in policy but in standing).
