It's pretty clear you boys haven't yet thought this through.

If Bloomberg is the nominee, he will lose.

He is much more likely to break up the Democratic Party than he is to defeat Donald Trump.

More serious still, if you choose him, then suddenly most of what ^they^ say about the Democrats, and a good deal of what they say about the United States, becomes undeniably true. You are throwing gasoline on that fire if you elect Bloomberg. And you'll be losing far more than the election.

When the common bases of political legitimacy are shown demonstrably false - and at your own behest - there is no getting that toothpaste back in the tube.

Choosing Bloomberg is not taking a tough but pragmatic stand. It is an act of hubris and monumental naivety, and proof you still don't understand how much worse things can actually get.
.
Shouldn't you be saying this on a forum where people support Bloomberg?

You mean the same forum that has over 29,000 posts about Donald Trump, and only one non-troll Trump voter?
No I don't mean [non sequitur]. I try to avoid non sequiturs, as they make me appear to be running down a list of talking points rather than responding to what's actually being said.

I don't see support for Bloomberg here as a primary candidate, just claims that many would be willing to vote for him as a lesser evil should he actually get the nomination. He'd be the most disheartening candidate among the Dems (or quasi-Dems, which status Bloomberg shares with the senator from Vermont) but when it comes to evil every little bit less counts.

It is not a non-sequitur, first because there are Bloomberg supporters here; second, because as I just noted, you are attempting to play hall monitor in charge of enforcing a standard of what is admissible that has never applied to this forum (and which you have never followed), and third, because the point I'm making - that Bloomberg is unelectable; arguably even more evil than Trump; and that everybody should do everything they can to make sure that he is not chosen - could hardly be more valid in a thread called '2020 Democratic Primary'

You genuinely are one of the most condescending people (with precious little reason to be) I’ve come across.

The Presidency bought by corrupt authoritarian racist sex-pest oligarch who does NOT tweet covfefe.

That's why my grandfather stormed Normandy.
I'm guessing your grandpa, like my grandpa, didn't really want to shoot Germans but it was better than the alternative.

The prevailing attitude in my circles today is "just win and sort it out afterward". Not all that different than Grandpa's approach to the war.

I'm interested to know how the appointment of a running mate works. Can ex candidates for the nominee be selected? I was just thinking that Bloomberg may increase his appeal by working with someone like Beto O'Rourke/Booker/Yang?

They could be selected - but how does any of them broaden his appeal?

The selected nominee of each party chooses his/her running mate and it can be anyone who is eligible under the Constitution (at least 35 years old, resident for last 14 years, natural-born citizen).

Yes, it’s basically up to the nominee to select their running mate. In recent history, VP selection have tended not to have run in that primary season, but decades ago it was fairly commonplace to select a previous opponent.
Hope that makes sense

I was just thinking he may run with someone more left leaning? It's not a subject I am massively clued up on, just interested! Personally, i just dont want to see 4 more years of that vulgar monstrosity you have at the moment

are you sure you don't mean Sanders?
You know full well if Sanders gets the nod and gets beat we will see about a dozen posts from him talking conspiracy right?

He will be back in blaming the rest of us despite the likely hood of us voting for him if he is selected.

It will be full on the Democrats screwed him or disnt show up to support him etc....

That's the real issue here. His supporters are him and bust. When it doesnt go their way so far it's been talk of how evil the dems are too him trying to cull his campaign. Which is hilarious considering Sanders and his supporters contempt for the party he is running with.

Name them. Name those who have said they support Bloomberg.

@sdk is right people have thus far only mentioned how much smarter Bloomberg is and if it were him or Trump then clearly Bloomberg would be a better choice.

Not one person said that he is their candidate of choice.
