The one positive people seem to clutch at is the economy, which has coincidentally been booming everywhere else in the developed world at the same rate, almost as if Trump has nothing to do with it.
And presidents ultimately have little direct influence on the economy but since we all like to think they do, it's useful to point out that the trajectory of the "Trump economy" is the same trajectory of the "Obama economy," only Trump inherited a robust economy while Obama inherited the biggest financial meltdown since the 1930s. So people who believe presidents are central to economic performance should wonder whether Trump could be doing as well as Obama did if Obama hadn't begun with such a major handicap.

really surprised with @Grinch 's take ons here because I before took him as a very decent poster, when I think of his contributions on other threads. so bizarre

Eh dont take politics into anything. Doesnt say much about anyone :) Very much a solid guy. Just because someone votes a certain way or has certain viewpoints doesnt make them a bad person.

What ever Grinch. I'm sure you're a pillar of the society of your choosing.
Sorry for triggering you. I respect your viewpoints. Respect mine. Not everyone grew up or was raised the way you were. We are from two totally different areas as well. A person from California isnt going to have the same viewpoints as Texas for example. Dont read to much into it.

have you ever considered a republican in the past? Honestly?
I know you weren't asking me but I like the sound of my own typing so I'll answer anyway: Nope.

I voted against Ronald Reagan in 1984, which was the first time I was old enough to vote, and I've been voting against Republicans ever since.

Partisans vote for the same party every time but I'm an independent. Independents vote against the same party every time.

Hey fair enough! I voted for Dems for in state stuff and Republicans for President. Only voted two cycles. Sat out the Obama Romney election. Didnt like either of them.

yup.
Trump has also ignored the national debt. It's funny how no one is talking about Tea partiers anymore. They spent 8 years hamstringing Obama at every turn and then disappear when the old white guy runs up the debt.
Slash corporate tax rates, watch companies buy back vast amounts of stock, drive up the markets, increase peoples 401k's, boost consumer confidence all while scaring the fed in to leaving interest rates low. It's the perfect strategy for short term gain without much effort but what happens when the coffers start to dry up and the debt cant be financed. Start cutting more and more EPA regs to make it easier to keep businesses running. Start cutting social programs. Stop spending on infrastructure, housing and education and so on.
The short term gain works, and may even buy Trump four more years but in the long term it could cause a generation of damage.

And remember the way pro-Tea Party pundits piously maintained that these folk had sincere and legitimate complaints about "runaway federal spending" and their fury had nothing to do with race at all?

Seems a fair parallel to those who tell us Trump appeals to people who've been left behind by the economy and their fury has nothing to do with race at all.

Disagree man. Nothing you do in this world impacts society more than your vote. If you vote solely for self-interest than all you really are is a selfish person. Individual charity or community service is a drop in the bucket to the movement of trillions of dollars that your vote can impact. Your vote defines you far more than anything else you do. You don't get to disown it.

Glad to see Biden possibly going the way of the dodo in this race.

I know next to nothing about Buttigieg and think Sanders will have the Corbyn-ish problem of not appealing to 'middle America', but Biden would have been pointless.

This is quite frankly dumb.

I am from Ireland and I live in California and I have plenty in common with people from many areas in the US including Texas and from where you are. Same goes for viewpoint.

What you are describing is ignorance and really is one of the biggest issues. There seems to be this stigma with some from the recognized red states that other states dont get them. The poor old me mentality. You just dont get us blah blah.

Every state has rural areas with rural issues and every state has similar issues when it comes to social and economic ideology. They also have cities, schools and other similar things that have similar issues.

Especially California. I can tell you many who I have worked with since I moved here are also like me implants to here. Some of those are from your neck of the woods too. One of my peers grew up in New Orleans and came here because of the Navy. Very big Republican but great guy. We disagree on some politics but viewpoints not really. Same goes for many more. See it depends on what you mean.

Your viewpoint is all over the place no wonder people dont get you.

So far you have said you have voted democrat but you are more middle.
You didnt vote for anyone during Obama's era.
You dont vote local does that mean Senate and Congress too?
You voted for Trump but not clear during that cycle if you voted anyone else left or right.

All this and you are only about yourself and your family health and wealth. The irony off someone saying they only vote for president but this is their biggest concern. But as long as your wealthy enough to throw some at charity eh? Maybe if you voted locally when poor people need it the right politican is there to fix stuff or pass the right bill. Also when floods happen the right person is there to get fema in and mobilize state resources

Funny how some people from the south seem to see California as some lefty utopia that hates the south nor understands the people who live there oh and which is completely blue. So we cant possibly get you.

Here I will give you a run down of every vote I ever made in my life :)
Im only 25 so keep that in mind. In 2012, I had the option between Obama and Romney. I didnt vote because I could not see myself in either of their "plans". I also voted for 1 Democratic Senator. For city council, I vote all Republican. I also voted for a Democratic Govenor in a red state. In 2016, I voted for Trump. I also re-voted for the Democratic Governor. Also a republican senator that year. I voted for a increase in teacher pay. I voted for a penny tax to help rebuild our roads. I am a independent to its core. If I like what you have to say, I will vote for you. I dont get worked up about politics like alot of the knob heads do on here. @BirkenheadBlue and I will never agree on anything because he only sees the left viewpoints and thats it. I respect his opinion on everything and honestly listen.

No hard feelings about anyone on here. I know some people feel butt hurt about certain things but not everyone is a mere copy of each other.
