Because in the minds of those floating voters, you know the ones who actually make the difference, Pelosi and co looked spiteful. Not professional, just spiteful. Obviously with you not being a floater and with a predetermined outcome you will not see it that way. But for those in the USA who are patriotic, and most are, they will see a spiteful woman, ripping up the Presidents address and wasting the time of the senate. If you don’t see it fine, just wait until November when he gets back in....I‘ve no axe to grind in this, I’m just seeing it from afar as the eyes of the floating voters.....

Pete, we know he's getting back in, literally nobody is denying it. Pelosi ripping up a sheet of paper hasn't affected that any more than Trump's stupidity and criminal behaviour has affected his chances at reelection.

I appreciate that, but the very act of ripping it up, in a spiteful manner, does not do the Democrats a lot of good in the eyes of those who have to be convinced......

So you’re just ignoring the actual... you know... facts and stuff, and going with your own opinion.

Fair enough.

PS “Those who are patriotic” lol lol lol

You have learnt nothing have you. Facts and stuff have nothing to do with how people vote. It’s how they perceive and then believe. Jesus wept, talk about amateur night.....

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that it's either the top or second highest cause of people LOSING THEIR HOUSES in the US. For the richest country in the world
Health care is the single leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States.

As such, Republicans have nothing substantive to say about the problem because it fails to conform to their bootstrappy credo of "personal responsibility."

Correct me if I'm wrong but the people here who seem most confident about Trump's reelection appear to be non-Americans in non-America.

Oh the cheek of Johnny Foreigner summing up the American voter from his special vantage at the Dog and Duck and Little Englander.

Sometimes the best view is from the outside.

Yeah, and the social programmes he wants implemented are such outlandish things as "healthcare for everyone".

Ooooooh, the dangerous Commie.

Yep. The founding fathers would have been dismayed that their Republic had come to such ideas. The declaration of independence makes no mention of the right of everyone to have access to universal healthcare.

what is wrong with 'healthcare for everyone'? would you be ok paying fortunes even for small operations. it is mindblowing what is going on in US when it comes to healthcare. even the people who loathe socialism/social democracy concede that. it has to change, can't stay as it is.

What is "wrong" with it is that something that is provided for free to some groups must pad for by someone else. By the interpretation of strict constitutionalists, this contravenes the underlying principle of America enshrined in its founding principle - the right of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" of those groups who are asked to pay for it.

If the fruits of your life and liberty are your money, and this is forcibly taken away from you in the form of taxation to pay for the welfare of others, they have taken away part of your supposedly inalienable right of life and liberty.

The US Constitution was designed to protect people from the encroachment of overbearing government by treating everyone as an equal in the eyes of the law; to protect people from the sort of thing Sanders wants to use the resources of the Government today to achieve. Hence property rights were also a core principle; the idea of limited government meant that you couldn't simply outvote someone who didn't want to give up their property rights just because someone wanted to build a railroad through their backyard (ofr example).
