1) ego 2) raise their profile so might be considered for VP or cabinet position 3) Draw more attention to, or keep the focus on, a particular issue they are concerned with.

I'd guess Inslee might be a bit of all three.
Yeah I suppose that makes sense, but I think VP is probably off the table - i’d imagine the field is so deep that the ticket will eventually consist of two of the “big names” from the list.

he's a good outside bet!
He actually might be. He has consistently surprised people in Colorado - he's all those middle-of-the-road words, but he actually practices them - he's pragmatic, understands and is friendly to business, has a good social conscience and is a coalition builder. Whoever wins the Democratic primary will have to practice Judo against President Trump - they will have to demonstrate the ability to use his attacks / "strengths" against him. Trying to go toe to toe with a bully is like wrestling a pig in mud - per George Bernard Shaw

lol lol lol

NEW YORK — Former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday that he would not run for president, concluding his path to the Democratic nomination was narrow and he could accomplish more as a private citizen.
The decision removes from the race one of the world’s richest men, a self-described centrist who had the potential to dominate early primary spending and complicate the campaigns of other moderate candidates.

“I believe I would defeat Donald Trump in a general election,” Bloomberg, 77, said in a statement posted online Tuesday afternoon. “But I am clear-eyed about the difficulty of winning the Democratic nomination in such a crowded field.”
In place of a candidacy, Bloomberg has committed to funding a new independent political operation with the goal of preventing the reelection of President Trump, with intensive voter targeting and outreach in swing states over the next 18 months.

Definitely the best contribution he could make
