If you are a Labour supporter, the best vote you can make with this one is for the Tories.

I know that sounds off, but honestly, the heavier Labour lose this with the hopeless one in charge, the better the chance Labour can u-turn into a viable opposition for the next one.
Surely Corbyn isn't going to stick around for very long though? Isn't it better for Labour to be in power with a poor leader than in opposition for 5 more years with a decent leader?

Labour's polling has been between 25 and 33% since he is in charge because of the internal opposition, because of the media's ceaseless attacks on him, because they had no clear policies and because in essence it doesn't matter.

This election announcement takes all of those away - the opposition has to stfu now, the media is legally obliged to provide some balance, Labour policies will be clear for all to see and people will have to choose between voting for her and five years of a Tory government that is willing to do this during the most important negotiations this country has faced in living memory, or voting for someone else.

No mate, honestly, they are not the reasons - it's all down to him and his broken ideology that the silent majority in this country simply do not buy in to.

There's a social media echo chamber that's positive for Corbyn - the minority of loudmouths. When the whole country suddenly has a voice, you'll see just how much a minority they are.

Labour need to be electorally wiped out here to understand that they need to change course, especially with the membership dictating who becomes leader due to their stupid internal electoral rules.

If you look at it simply using arithmetic then either it's two plus five now, or five plus possibly another five if Corbyn is able to hold onto power.

That would support your logic as it's a lesser period of Conservative certainty. However, for Corbyn to survive another three years was unlikely.

Anyway, I'd be wholly surprised if Corbyn isn't absolutely bashed to pieces by this election and he'll be getting stabbed in the back along the way.

From that the party will once again move towards a more politically grounded figure who'll be able to pull the party to the more accepting centre.

Not really a relevant question, as they won't be in power with a poor leader, so they may as well do the viable option and be in opposition with a credible one with a credible ideology behind them that actually has a chance of earning votes.

They've got 16 million potential voters. That's enough to win any election and then some.

A heck of a lot of those are tories. Who will still vote tory. A heck of a lot of those are labour. Who will still vote labour. A heck of a lot of those are Scottish Nat. Who will still vote SNP.

All the evidence shows brexit support and May support to both be rising steadily. I see nothing other than a large Tory win.

Edit: it's also very likely that tories pick up lots of ukip votes in the north. What's the point of ukip when theresa can achieve your objectives in a much more competent and less toxic manner?

Here is Tim Farron, the Lib Dem leader, on the announcement.

This election is your chance to change the direction of our country.

If you want to avoid a disastrous hard Brexit. If you want to keep Britain in the single market. If you want a Britain that is open, tolerant and united, this is your chance.

Only the Liberal Democrats can prevent a Conservative majority.

he's going for it, im prob gonna vote lib dem based on that..
