It makes no sense to me on a lot of grounds. The DUP also oppose the Tories on a number of social and economic issues and have only the union and Brexit in common.

Obviously the DUP are going to demand their pound of flesh from May. What that will be God only knows....hopefully not tinkering with the terms of the Good Friday agreement.

Give this arrangement 3 weeks I reckon. Can't see it working.

One would imagine Roydo but let's not be hasty.

Its the way it works.

It will survive until Government Business becomes impossible, then the whole charade starts again.

No idea what particular issue will cause the empasse, but there will be one, and probably before Christmas.

The only way I see it lasting, is if the Brexit package appeals to the wider HOC. Which is unlikely.

I know mate, no way can this alliance ever last without untold damage to both of them.

The DUP got 36.1% and UUP got 10.3% and TUV got 0.3% and Hermon got 1.1%.

So that's actually a unionist vote of almost 49%. It was a vast increase on March Assembly Election. But we're in this cycle where it will probably spark a nationalist reaction, followed by a unionist one, and so on so on so......
True, the head count is en vogue now regardless of politics.

Won't May have to give some of them a position in government, a job so to speak.

Indeed.

It will be to get the Queens Speech through, then May will duck and weave to get some sort of traction re Brexit, then lose a Confidence vote, resign, and another GE before Christmas.

Gamble will be that Corbyn was a high water mark this week, (who knows?), and the Tory high command wont make the same mistakes again.

It's got to be breathing space for a new Tory leadership election. It cant be anything else.

It's just opportunism that any small party would try in this sort of kingmaker situation. I just don't see any long term viability. DUP internally would be rather split on who they favour nationally and they despised the Cameron regime.
