Some people keep moving the goalposts to have a go at Corbyn, and now the most important thing is the 'push the button first'. I await the next Tory HQ inspired attack on Corbyn.

I just hope they get a better answer than the ones they have had so far. They could even point out that, according to a former Chief of the Defence Staff, that most of the safeguards that exist in the launch process are to try and prevent a Prime Minister launching missiles.

I didn't claim a big turnout always breaks Labours way; I stated that a circa 66% turnout will mean that the likelihood is a Tory win with a large majority as it'll probably mean the older voters have turned up and younger voters have failed to.

By the time today's youngsters decide to bother to turn up and vote they'll be middle aged Tories. That's how life progresses, at least for many.

IMO the young don't vote because they haven't learnt the life lesson... that actions are far more important than words. Being ideological and opinionated is all well and good, but its also hypocritical if you can't actually be bothered to go to the voting booth to cast your vote and then blame those who did for wrecking the country because they have actually learnt some important life lessons. Youth is wasted on the young.

Fixed ;)

My apologies to any younger forum members, but the young do their politicking on social media, when the time comes to actually put their mark on a ballot paper something more important usually pops up...or it's raining.

Social media has only really existed for the past two general elections, and the youth vote was up in both of them.

64% of young registered voters voted in the EU Referendum. That % has been on a consistent climb since the 2010 election when 'Social Media' was yet to hit a boom point. Twitter, which is consistently pointed to in the social media politics argument was still in it's relative infancy during the 2010 election, too.

Plenty of us - the young vote - have registered in this one and early polling suggests once again at least a 60% turnout. Will that be enough? Maybe but also maybe not, especially if people don't follow the tactical vote in certain areas as suggested by https://www.tactical2017.com

Also, here's a good read from the Telegraph on the importance of the Young Vote in this election: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/19/important-young-people-vote/

I had my fingers crossed as I typed.

I cross my fingers every day, hoping that we do turn out. Christ knows we need to.

The only thing I would say Connor, is that Labour already hold 49 out of the 50 youngest seats in terms of youngest age demographics. The rogue one being Chester. So even if they do turn out in even bigger numbers, it's quite possible it's not going to be in the right areas. I've sensed Labour are piling on votes in the big cities where they are already miles ahead, but shipping votes everywhere else, which is probably what will ensure they don't win.
