I don't like the tory idea at all, but I have been thinking, and can't quite work out how exactly we should go about paying for elderly care.

It's massively unfair that those who were responsible and saved are punished. It's massively unfair that those who squandered their money get treated for free. It's massively unfair those who paid no tax throughout their life get it free. It's massively unfair your family home will be siphoned off.

I'm not sure how I square this circle tho. Some form of compulsory social care pot, or additional national insurance payments which are compulsory for absolutely everyone might need to be added. Fairness is key tho. It's a nightmare policy to legislate on those and my head hurts lol

TBH I am increasingly of the opinion that the only fair way to do it is to copy the French model, make it (and healthcare) a clear % of your tax and then fund it out of that. After defining what we expect in return, and removing the more obvious waste / scams first mind.

Mate, neither May nor Jezza are remotely close to being good enough to come out unscathed against the likes of Neil and Paxman. Two extraordinarily out of their depth, career politicians. I call spades spades and admittedly I like very few politicians, but these two are absolute rubbish!!!

T, you worry me.

Odd, the timing of this article. Are we to believe that a national newspaper knew of this sensational story and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT until it suited them? How bloody noble of them.

File under Desperate.

The article is from 2015.......he was just an irritating nobody up until then.......

So nowhere in this article are the words spoken by Corbyn, 'I defend the IRA'.

The article is full of more holes than a Swiss cheese, a poor attempt by a hack to throw muck at Corbyn. This is a very good example of crap from the article. 'The editorial board of a hard-Left magazine - London Labour Briefing -, of which Mr Corbyn was a member' was dealt with on Sunday on Sky by Corbyn. 'According to Private Eye, he was a member of the editorial board , and served as its general secretary for some time,[3] but Corbyn later denied this claim in an interview in 2017'. Gilligan needs to do his homework better but like Humbert Wolfe wrote in Uncelestial City,

You cannot hope
to bribe or twist,
thank God! the
British journalist.
But, seeing what
the man will do
unbribed, there's
no occasion to.[3]

For the first time since JC was elected as leader (first time round) I have hope for the election. May is completely screwing this up for them lot and maybe Labour will have done enough to at least make it close. Really don't want to get too hopeful though knowing this country

hopefully the media keep on hammering the Tories (strong and stable!) and Labour don't muck this up. Keep on offering hope to the people who feel disillusioned and who knows...

To deny that Corbyn wanted a united Ireland and supported the IRA is to deny the truth. You can believe whatever you want and spin it so that he is a great man of peace. He was for the IRA a useful fool......

Didn't see it mate. She's no Maggie Thatcher that's for sure, and she's rubbish in front of the cameras, but she's 20X better than Corbyn so we have to let her have a go..........
Apparently May has a reputation for going to ground whenever there are problems. As I recall, she hardly got involved in the Brexit campaign - could be wrong but I've no real memory of her on the stump or anything. Whilst at the Home Office she apparently had the nickname "The Submarine" because she would disappear as soon as anything bad happened and then pop up again when it was sorted.

Weasel words. He did (and IIRC does) support a united Ireland, but no evidence has ever been produced that he "supported the IRA".

Mate I grew up in Northern Ireland. Certainly not by choice lol

We've been let down by politicians for 50 years here and if this has taught me anything, it's to be extremely wary and sceptical about politicians and their promises.

I enjoy politics and especially election results and the data side of it, but I find it hard to get excited by any of our current political leaders.

She's no great leader that's for sure, but with a cabinet sometimes you need more of a chairman/chairwoman/chair skill set . Anyway we will find out once she's elected. At least the tories know how to get rid of a leader when they want.......

Don't worry The S*n is full on IRA smear mode too.

Just as Corbyn sets about doing this: https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-to-families-of-ira-hyde-park-bombing-victims

I was at the 80th anniversary rally of the Battle of Cable Street last year. He gave up his Sunday afternoon to speak of the dangers of a rising tide of racism and anti-semitism. This is the man accused of being an anti-semite around about the same time. No other political leaders were there that day.

He sought no publicity, that I could see. Don't remember it being reported, tbh.

He did nothing for the peace process. He was never involved. His only role was in defending the IRA, and to pretend otherwise is a disgrace........

I think you know that this is false. What motive would he have for defending the IRA? It's absolute rubbish. He has fought his whole political life in the right side of history. Time and time again, he has shown that he stands up for what is right. Defending terrorist is not what he does. Seeking common ground to solve issues is.
