I don't want to get bogged down in old arguments but Labour lost my money when my former fellow membership in their infinite wisdom decided to reelect Corbyn when it was so blindingly obvious that it wasn't working. That said, I'll still be voting for the Labour candidate in my constituency as she's a bloody good woman.
That is a fair comment. The problem I have is I live somewhere where a Tory has been voted in easily in the last couple of elections and there is no chance he will lose next month. My vote won't matter unless I can vote a few thousand times.

I know it's not really midterm, but these are probably the worst midterm results there's been for a main opposition party. And they haven't even got a couple of years to turn it round either.

Normally wouldn't read too much into locals, but I actually think the tories might get an overall majority of a hundred now.

I'd say 'You'd hope this would wake people up to just how unelectable Corbyn and Labour currently are', but who cares at this point, it's far too late.

People need to give their heads a wobble when it comes to the future of Labour. Corbyn fans, you are in a very small bubble, deluding yourselves into thinking you have a 'massive' movement behind you. You don't, you really, really don't.

Labour narrative is to call tories ukip lite this morning, because they seem to have mopped up a lot of their vote. But the problem with that is, is that most of the ukip voters who are switching tory in Northern areas, voted labour from 97- 05. Can't just throw out the racist line.

It just shows that the Tories under Cameron weren't seen as racist enough. Now they are, the UKIP voters can return 'home'. Labour from 97 to 05 was just a less racist Tory-lite party. They were still in thrall to Murdoch and big business.

52% of the country aren't racist. Saying 52% of the country is racist is one of the reasons why the left are getting battered.

I'm not sure what was wrong with pragmatic centre left politics. I've no interest in the hard left nor does 75% of voters.

Has McDonnell piped up yet to tell everyone it's ok. They're getting webbed everywhere, councillors going down like flies and it's all to do with the 3 doom mongers leading this party

I agree we don't but I am voting for someone whose personal qualities and morals I believe in and whose policies are to me the best of all the parties (personally Id go much further than Corbyn) so from that point of view I am incredibly happy giving him and Labour my vote (happiest I've been voting for anyone for years)

I have no interest in Labour being Tories light.

I accept that other labour voters or ex labour voters may disagree with me on this.

Can I also just say Emily Thornberry is out of her depth.
Her, McDonnell and Abbott are a bigger problem to Labour than having Corbyn as leader. If they are the most powerful politicians in a party then that party has serious problems. Just fear that they will still be at the top after the election and the disaster that Labour will have.

Wouldn't you rather have your morals adapted to actually have a chance to make a difference?

I'm not saying sell them down the river; just not be ridiculously extreme with them and understand where compromise is needed?

For example, you might think "nukes are bad maaaan, give peace a chance!" etc. etc. but ultimately holding that view and promising to scrap them altogether means you simply cannot be in a position of power to help the vulnerable in society with more rational economic policy.

Politics is about choosing your battles; Corbyn is absolutely clueless at this.

Well I disagree he is clueless and think it is difficult to get his views across amidst the media bias and the shameful lack of support from the rest of the party.

I don't even think his policies are very extreme .

I know what you are saying but I doubt that anyone to the left of Tony Blair would get any different treatment from the media (Milliband and Kinnock both had it and they were barely extremists).

Finally, could I rest easy for myself if the price for a marginal lessening of the harm being done to vulnerable people in this country was us killing thousands of people in another country (as it might be under a Hilary Benn type leader)
