Howard was asked a few years ago about why he stayed with 24.....
Tim Howard: When I came here I wore 24 as No1 wasn't available 24 is a number I've always loved and I have a number of different reasons and it's just kinda stuck it's really grown on me ya know. I wear 1 for the US so me and 24 go together and I don't think that'll change . The No1 keeper is the one that's playing and that tradition of wearing number 1 doesn't matter to me so 24 is mine.
