The whole number thing means sod all now.
Squad numbers mean nothing.
1-11 (which of course we did first} was the way to go.
Names on the back of shirts was purely a money making idea and once they were introduced squad numbers became a necessity

A "boss" number in the context of this thread refers to a number that has history behind it. There are certain numbers at Everton which you could say are sacred because of former players that have worn them. Its a sentimental thing, mostly.

Supporters don't tend to react well if a [Poor language removed] player gets given one of these numbers. They want them to go to the players worthy of them.

I couldn't care less what shirt number players wear.

If a gash striker gets given the number 9 shirt i'm bothered we've got a gash striker. Thats it.

In fairness we don't know for certain Kone is gash I would like to think we'll give him a chance to stake hid claim next season. 5 and 9 have traditionally been worn by legendry centre backs and strikers but in the squad number years there significance has been diminished.

I'm from Liverpool..

Nooooo! That's implausible

Sorry to disappoint! Misleading I know, but I need someone to support over there

I've got half a heart for the Mavs too, but it's decreasing every year the Pelicans play. Odd choice picking them out among all the teams, but I suppose I can't hold that against you.

I quite like the idea of Mirallas as number 7, Barkley number 10, And Oviedo changing from 8. At least with Kone being given 9 he didn't get chance to choose a silly number. We could have ended up with Kone A. 1.

I've only met one other Mavs fan in Liverpool, so two is quite impressive really. I'm never one to bandwagon a team, so automatically hated the Lakers etc.. but I was young teens when I started following the NBA so I suppose the 'cool' name and badge had something to do with it, as well as them being blue! Also, I have German family, so Dirk was another reason. Been watching and playing basketball since and have stuck with them!

Love how off topic this thread has gone. Sorry Ijjy. Wonder why Howard has never changed from his 24 anyway?
