Erm, how does that make sense for Kenwright ?
I'm happy we signed Stone but why do it on the last day of the January window? The january window imo is for strengthening your squad to push on for the second half of the campaign. Stone is one for the future, which is great, but shouldn't these types of deals be the focus of the summer when we have a bit more time? And maybe we would have missed out on this particular youngster if Wigan bought him, but there are plenty of quality players in the lower leagues that we could invest in instead.
I don't see him making a contribution this season, so I don't see why this is a priority in January at all.
If it was Fer, Negredo plus about £10 million i'd take it.
They have probably had to act to stop him going elsewhere. That doesn't mean he is / was our priority
