2013 January Transfer Window Thread

Hearing more and more people on twitter banging on about how we will sign this bloke from Chesterfield. Tendayi Darikwa I believe his name is. Anyone seen him play, I hadn't even heard of the chap until a few days ago.

All I know is he is pacy. Seen him on one of the football league shows and thought hes fast.

think we'd leave buying youngsters till the summer. we need to strengthen our 1st team right now and cant spend our limited funds on players who will play in about 3 years. With regards to the barnsley kid - we have 3 RB's atm and desperstely need a striker/cm/rm

I think we need to sign players now that will improve our starting 11 immediately (e.g M'Vila and Donovan) not some kids who may become good 5 years later.

The budget is tight so I will be happy if our club can add one quality signing before the deadline.

Players who are ready built for the first team would cost more than 2m, M'villa went for around 9m and we just dont have that sort of money without selling players

Paper talk this I reckon, we probably had a scout there. From Moyes' comments looks like he is trying to get just one in of the quality to challenge for a starting place from the off, knowing that there is only a slim chance but worth holding out for just in case. Similar to when we got Felli late on - but doubt we have that kind of budget available this time.

We've been watching him for months, this lad will go on to be top draw IMO.

They've already rejected a deal worth a total if £1.5m from Wigan, but they're resigned to him leaving & probably this window. A deal structured with add ons totalling around £2.5m will buy him

Just seen Sky bigging up Jim White in Sky Sports News.

Sums up the lunacy of the window to me.

........it can get depressing when our neighbours in mid-table can go out and spend £20m to boost their position whilst we can only look in bargain basement. I wouldn't complain if the boot was on the other foot, but it's hardly a level playing field. Wenger probably has a point when he says there shouldn't be a mid-season window.

Spot on, I'm not too fussed about them spending money, they do it most seasons and every year promise that they are buying class players.

I don't worry about it tbh, it's the sickening gloss sky put on the window like some sort of circus of trading.

Circus of trading! Yeah, it's a livestock market where everyone is skint, nobody knows where the horses are but everyone has heard rumours that there might be someone, somewhere in the vicinity, looking into the mouth of a horse.

Anyway i liked the tone when Moyes answered those recent questions on transfers, so i got fingers crossed for the unveiling of a new striker at the WBA game. We damn better give them and Villa a hiding whilst not playing our new acquisitions.

Also, we should buy a winger or give Kennedy a chance
