Looks like Newcastle will have brought in three or four players by the time the window closes. Embarrassing that we can't even afford one.

We're well better than they are and have a higher wage bill and much less wealthy owners. plus we'll sign 2 before the window is out.

They've sold though, looks like they could be losing two of their most important players too, collocini and ba, wait til February 1st to judge.

tbf they were running at about a £45M negative net spend over the last 3 years, before the start of this window. So they're hardly one to be envied.

The season before last we were paying 4 million more then them, since then ours has risen five million and they've bought loads and loads of french internationals.

Not convinced ours is still higher.
Maybe not, but I seem to recall a wages table that had us in 7th only behind, Man UTD, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and QPR

Using net spend doesn't tell the whole story though, considering they got £35m for selling a single player.

Since last Summer they've spent £12m net, and look to be bringing in at least two more players. Over the Summer and January transfer windows their total spends might run as high as £25m.

Meanwhile we're looking at loan deals.

Using net spend plus wages, tells the whole story, as that is the totally investment in players.

The fact that they managed to con £35M out of the ****e for Carroll is the entire reason that they've been able to invest since.

Albeit until this window opened their net spend was still minus £45M over the previous 3 years.

We pay big wages and Newcastle are trying to recruit younger/cheaper players to keep the bill down whilst we pay johnny £65k a week whilst they couldn't afford that much for remy in my opinion i'd be surprised are they paying more than us.

As for two signings , I agree with the poster above I think two loans at best unless we sell of something dramatic occurs.
