We don't need to get a like for like replacement for Baines. Say he is a 9/10 for the team. If we sell him and get in 3 players who are a 5/10 then thats a 15 in total which surely makes us a better team.

Selling a top class player and bringing in 3 sh*t players will make us a better team?!?!

Yeah but we'd still only be able to play 11 players at a time. So we'd just swap a 9/10 for a 5/10 and have two more 5/10s on the bench.

only if moyes got all the money to invest...if citeh come in then the price goes to 30m...would be silly to turn down.

The numbers don't add up. They offer £25,000,000, yet he's Priceless to us... I just can't see any middle ground here. Keep, and build a team around him.

I wouldn't but i imagine that if we get a bid like that then he will go. Whichever player out of Baines, Rodwell or Fellaini we get the first £25m bid for will leave as the board will say they can't turn down an offer like that.

Im a huge fan of Leighton but we would have to take £25mill imo. He is our most creative outlet but he's not the best defensively. A fee like that would enable us to sign a solid LB and hopefully 2 pacy wingers to replace his creativity and attacking threat (also his set pieces). We could then use the money from Yobo/Yak/Vaughan etc to fund a striker.

This then improves the first team and squad depth.

If £25m was offered then he'd be gone whether we like it or not.
For me, if Moyes got that plus the money from Vaughan, Yobo, Yak and poss Billy/Heiginga then you'd be talking a kitty of around £35 - £40m ..with only one of these actually first choice players. That is money which could seriously change the fortunes of this club is spent wisely..so to answer..yes, with conditions

Yeah you'd have an equal replacement at lb defensive wise.

You'd have a left winger who could beat a man and cross a ball (which we don't have now)

And you'd have a striker who can score goals (lets just say Demba Ba for example as we've been linked)

As opposed to Baines at lb, Bily at lw and Anichebe at striker.

You don't think that makes us a stronger team in any way?

As i've said though, its a risk and not guaranteed. But its something we as a club may well have to do in our position.

Sure he has been important for us goals wise, but if we could spread those goals and assists over 3 new players we would have a bigger squad which helps when we get an injury crisis. Plus we wouldn'y **** our pants if one player got injured.

We've coped with losing players before, we coped with losing Cahill for most of the second half of the season when if you believe certain people he was our best player in the first half.

But didn't we do this with Rooney? Got an influx of cash, splashed out and bought a few players. Okay, we've maintained our position in the league more or less, but whilst keeping Rooney wouldn't necessarily have gotten us to where we are now, it certainly wouldn't have hurt. (I know the Rooney issue is far more complex than that, but LB's happy here, lets build on that...)
