The question you have to ask is where would the team the season before have finished with Lukaku up front?

Rooney was only a kid when he left us

BBS got lucky Went in for one Chelsea player and came out with another Lukaku Also signed some pure muck from Wigan

    2025/26 David Moyes

Moyes wouldn’t need them. Just add Lukaku and the team the year before would have got 80 points.

Given Lancelot was a French invention the closest was either Miralles or Lukaku… 😮 Or maybe he sees Bobby as a John F Kennedy style figure, which means there must have been a “Marilyn Monroe” somewhere at Finch Farm…

Yeah, i edited Rom in shortly after posting. What did we make on Cleverly? I can't imagine it was much, as he was pretty rubbish for us.

No he didn’t, he spent £61m net, stop lying please.

Lukaku and Cleverley just off the top of my head. Must be more. He made a net profit for us.

Moyes also technically left Fellaini for Martinez to inherit, and it was another piece of Moyes business we made a healthy profit on. *runs* Did Martinez or the club make a profit on any single player he bought for us? EDIT: Lukaku obvs. Any others?

Rooney's best season for Everton he only scored 10, Lukaku scored more than that pretty much every year.

    2025/26 David Moyes

Lukaku was in no way shape or form better than Rooney. But I’d advise thinking before posting buddy, boasting that your favourite manager has “our best CF” when registering back to back bottom half finishes isn’t the flex you think it is.

    2025/26 David Moyes

Well he did also bring in Barry and McCarthy that season but I take your general point

    2025/26 David Moyes

Did he? Well he brought Lukaku in, and that's the reality. Our best CF since the glory days.

We are seeing in real time what’s happening at Liverpool which is almost identical to what happened to Everton. Hopefully they suffer the consequences of such a disastrous appointment for years to come, but hopefully it doesn’t result in Klopp coming back to rescue them.

    2025/26 David Moyes

He got 10 more points with Moyes' team plus Lukaku. Which is terrible. Moyes would have had us challenging for the title. Martinez reverted to 47 points a season as soon as the Moyes stabilisers were taken off.
  16. P

    2025/26 David Moyes

He didnt do well. He took over a club used to top 7 finishes and left them with back to back bottom half finishes. That’s not doing well, not matter which way it’s dressed up.
  17. davek

    2025/26 David Moyes

He didn't. He brought these players in.

    2025/26 David Moyes

...But let's not forget that he inherited Tim Howard - one of the best GK in the Premier League at the time. one of the best CB groupings in the PL Jagielka, Distin and Stones. Baines Coleman Pienaar Lukaku Deulofeu Barry - Gareth not Thierno :) ... and he spent over £20M (approx £30M in 2025)

    2025/26 Beto

If that had been Beto's first game for us, we'd have been hailing the new Lukaku. By all accounts he works incredibly hard to improve his game, so maybe he's just hitting his peak now? If he carries on with that kind of form for the remaining games, he's our number nine next season.
  20. maccavennie

    2025/26 Thierno Barry

...funny thing is, both Barry and Beto are pretty crap yet they've both scores absolute quality finishes (Beto 1st v Chelsea and Barry v Villa away), the likes we haven't seen since Lukaku who had every kind of finish imaginable Shame they've just got so many flaws in a lot of aspects of their game
