2025/26 David Moyes

You have quoted a blacklisted website which means it’s clickbait nonsense basically hence the link won't work mate. Nolan was talking him up and said he was always confident the player would come good despite the shaky start but they had been watching him for a while.
Yeah, so I found a different source. Nolan is pretty much the first person to make that claim. Pretty much every source tells the same story. Moyes pushed for Maguire, Steidten claimed it was a bad value deal and pushed for Mavropanos instead.

In fact, they were said to have almost came to blows over transfers as Steidten was blocking all of Moyes picks, such as McTominay, and pushing for overseas signings instead. He had no knowledge of the British market and thought it was overpriced.

I think we can all agree that Moyes hadn't been left with a relegation outfit - far from it. Then he had £110M to throw at the first team and brought in class players like Grealish (wages) and KDH who could be the difference in terms of getting us up the field.

It isn't a miraculous story. Not in any way shape or form.

We are currently 8th in the league. That's only a little ahead of schedule that I'd have expected. My long held and stated view has been for this season that we need minimum top 10 for him to keep his job in what is a garbage league now.

So, as I stated above, he's done well.

That's about it really. 🤷‍♂️

You thought they were a relegation outfit last season. So did everyone who said they’d take 17th before the start of last season.

For those who fall for this nonsense, a bit of context of what you’re dealing with.

Martinez inherited this

That's right he did...and he coached them to take us to a season total of 72 points...something that hasn't been even remotely gotten near since and a total we wont get near to again this side of a takeover by a sovereign wealth fund and a relaxation of PSR.

Yeah I saw that but the difference is that they are just 'sources' whereas Nolan actually worked at the club under Moyes so I reckon he probably has a better idea of the truth than a bunch of journalists imo.

Martinez did well. But let's not forget that he inherited

Tim Howard - one of the best GK in the Premier League at the time.
one of the best CB groupings in the PL Jagielka, Distin and Stones.
Baines
Coleman
Pienaar
Lukaku
Deulofeu
Barry - Gareth not Thierno :)

... and he spent over £20M (approx £30M in 2025)

Moyes also technically left Fellaini for Martinez to inherit, and it was another piece of Moyes business we made a healthy profit on.

*runs*

Did Martinez or the club make a profit on any single player he bought for us? EDIT: Lukaku obvs. Any others?

just seen the other link you posted

Who knows then but that's what he was saying this morning mate.
@JobForTheMoyes is very selective with his evidence on a certain subject. He has a high threshold of proof when anything negative is said but a very low threshold when it's positive news. Like a classic propagandist.

Lukaku and Cleverley just off the top of my head. Must be more. He made a net profit for us.

72 points great, those 3 extra wins fantastic, but the drop off is something we will never see again, from 72 to 47 is a failure never seen in the PL. name one other club who has seen a 25 point swing season on season.

It’s not just sources though. It’s the same story repeated in pretty much every publication, from the New York Times, to club insiders to British newspapers.
