Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

To what purpose? He’s not going to start games, and if he’s a bench option to come on then surely those minutes would be better spent on Barry or Chermiti.

I think it’s all just paper talk. Moyes seems to have been impressed with what he’s seen from Barry judging by his pre season comments. I’ll wager he’s first choice over Beto by the end of the season.
Becomes our most potent striker immediately. Shortermism but if the noise around Barry is to be believed and let's be honest apart from a few games last season, Beto is limited, then on a free its not the worst idea. You'll say otherwise no doubt, however that's my stance.

I'm absolutely staggered that we haven't brought anyone in this week.

The closer to deadline day the more desperate and more prone to mistakes we become.

Everyone knows we need a minimum of 5 players to have a semblance of a decent squad , at least 3 of which need to be starters.

I just can't see it happening.

I suspect that we will sign 3 players on deadline day 2 of which will be loanees and yet another season of struggle will ensue.
If we don't see any more incomings until deadline day then genuinely people should be fired.

It wouldn't be a rash decision either. If we get to that stage then it will be clear they are not able to do their jobs properly. We're getting close to that point already.

I just do not think striker is anywhere near our priorities and I’d like to see us actually put some faith in our new young striker who was good enough to lead the line for a Villarreal side that qualified for the Champions League
Leading the line is a stretch. Villareal played 442 with Barry and Ayoze Perez playing up top. With Perez as the stand out player scoring twice the goals Barry did.

You can't really compare La Liga and Premier League. And you can't compare playing as an isolated striker for a long ball team with playing in well coached 442 team.

Just look at Everton. How Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin looked in a 442 team compared to when playing as a lone striker.

You'll find a dozen strikers that look decent in a 442 for every one that can lead the line by themselves.

If we were a 442 team, I'd expect Barry and Ndiaye to do well together. But they seem to be a long way off good enough to lead the line the way Everton play.

I agree friction is healthy mate, but it has become a running theme over the last week or so and it would appear that we're losing out as a result.

At this stage, it should be Marc Watts stepping in, as the most senior TFG representative at the club.

You don't have to make a lot of leaps to deduct that it's Moyes on one side and Kinnear/Hammond on the other.

I don't know how you solve that mess but it is a mess and does need solving yesterday.

Not for me mate - you leave it alone now and review on the 2nd of Sep. We are at a critical point now, were the market is close to almost being flushed out and availability is going to be at its max. If as reported we do another 3/4 deals - lets wait and see if that friction is healthy or not. If we made a bags of loads of deals thats for review and accountability on the 2nd of Sep - there should be a through review success or failure of the window.

In my own opinion there are expectations amongst the fanbase that just wont be met, reasonably so far 7/8 players have been brought in depending on your perspective - people would feel a whole lot better if they were right sided players - so that's the anxiety really - an unbalanced squad.

We are behind in some deals and ahead in others - we didn't expect to get Grealish this early i believe (or at all) - we thought it would go to the end of the window.

Personally i think we make one big investment - right wing, one lesser one - midfield/utility and a loan - maybe two if we miss out on a midfield target permanently or can do a loan with obligation/option at midfield.

Overall its still hold your nerve time for me.

Confirmation in that article that it is still PSR limiting our spending, for those insisting that TFG just don't want to spend any money.
Which article? We sold the womens team...and that is at least 60 millions profits on the books...then you have goodison park...unsure if it was or not included. If included, you'll imagine that 60 millions would be significantly increased. IF they keep using PSR as an excuse, it does look to me more and more that it is exactly that...TFG dont want to spend the money.
