Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone ,

Woke to see some more rain overnight and more forecast tomorrow and Monday so that's good.

My only food weakness is a fry up on Saturday morning so looking forward to that and then a day of grass cutting. At least that was my excuse when a mate offered me a ticket to the Everton game!

Tuesday is looking like a ridiculously tough day as we are getting a 6 ton delivery of limestone gravel which me and Mrs J will spread on the driveway - no gym that day @anjelikaferrett ! Fortunately the weather gods are looking favourably on us - cloudy , overcast and only 16 degrees - perfect.

Anyway whatever you have planned have a lovely weekend my pedigree chums.
"Fry up " photos please .Take it steady with the gravel ,it will not run away and 8 spade fulls to a barrow . I presume you will use one !

Anyone following the comedy show that is the Tory leadership race ? It's the gift that keeps giving.

Looks like Truss is the overwhelming favourite with the Tory members.

That suits me fine because even the dull as dishwater Starmer can't fail to beat the Poundland Thatcher.

Even my mum who unlike her son never speaks ill of anyone doesn't like her.
It's a joke. I'm wondering how the party members are going to sort out if they vote for an Asian man or a white woman! Many heads will explode over that choice. I too think Truss will win.

I genuinely think there should be a rule, regardless of party, that if the leader of the party in power resigns it should trigger a general election. As it stands 160,000 people get to choose our next Prime Minister. That doesn't seem like democracy.

Who's your team? Hopefully Galway wins!

Iranian food is delicious. There are lots of go to dishes I guess. One of them would be kebab type dishes with just a skewer or 2 of meat or chicken with rice, Iranian bread and a few other sides. My favourite is Fesenjan which is some kind of meat cooked in a walnut and pomegranate sauce. But there are loads of other things.
That is on my list now as I love to try different foods ,I have made a Persian curry but found it a bit bland even though I don't like it too hot .

Love Lebanese food and surprisingly they produce great wine in the Becca valley. Chateau Musar is my favourite, not cheap though. Aldi currently selling an excellent Lebanese red for £7
One of my wife's nephews married a Lebanese girl and his parents bring wine over from there visits ,very nice too and a beautiful country from what I have seen .

Have you watched the TV series "Sherwood "? We have just finished it and I thought it was an eye opener.

Regardless of the party the length of time to choose a new leader is ludicrous. 10 weeks in total with a 6 week tour for hustings , bands have done World tours in less time. It is scandalous at a time of crisis when we badly need leadership.
My own view is that is a party is in Government that whatever process they wish to adopt for a leadership campaign should take a maximum of 14 days.
The democracy point that you make is a good one as both Sunak and Truss are now offering policies that are substantially different to the programme on which they were elected, so yes I'm with you on that.

I wouldn't say an expert but it's one of my hobbies and I've got a decent collection.

It helped that we used to have a house near Bordeaux and brought back a couple hundred bottles each trip.

I'm fairly well up on French wine , not so great on other countries.

Georgia is a new one on me!
Yeah I was surprised about Georgia! Wow I'd love to have a house in the south of France, or anywhere round that part of Europe really. Must've been nice. Are you based back in England now?

I think it's delicious mate. And I think it's not that difficult to cook, perhaps only a little bit time-consuming.

Is'nt that where they think it all started?
No idea mate. Could well be - linked to the Roman Empire maybe? Although I don't know if the Roman Empire got that far TBH.

Sound Angela running in the 2.12 at Newcastle today Anj. It looks like being favourite but worth a flutter no?

And whilst I agree with your sentiment on voting for the next Prime Minister, if that were the case then the Tories wouldn't have risked ousting Boris Karloff and he'd still be Prime Minister. Sad but true.

Lunch today Kalamares with a sour cream and herb dip :-
